Absolutely true.

Google the name Tommy Chaikin and look at all the information that comes up about wide spread steroid use in the gamecock program in the 80s. All the coaches knew about it according to Chaikin who was a defensive lineman for the team and was almost driven to suicide by the drugs.

At the time not much was known about the effects of steroids. If a story broke about a program using these drugs at the level the coots were back in the 80s they would shut the program down.
