Justyn Ross and True Freshman Wide Receivers

Jan 3, 2019, 2:21 PM

I can only remember Sammy Watkins stepping in to make an immediate impact as a True Freshman like Ross. Think about how good Tee Higgins is, but he wasn't quite ready last year as a True Frosh. Its just hard to be ready mentally and physically right out of high school. Proud of the kid; he's humble, and a bonafide member of Wide Receiver U. Only Champions Accepted

That's a good example of arm tackling --- I mean, tackling the arm.

Justyn Ross is better than Sammy Watkins. Don’t @ me. Enjoy the next 2 years of this kid b/c he’s a first rounder already

Not sure about him being better than Sammy, Watkins was a game changer catching, running after the catch, kick return as well.

Justyn is way more of a deep threat and may not produce as much with slants and bubbles. But that’s because we first implemented that offense with Sammy.

I think our memories of how impactful Sammy was, may be fading. He was the man.
I'm also excited about Ross over the next 2 years (and the other talented receivers we have).

Sammy was amazing... and his freshman year was extremely impressive, but think about who Ross has in his position group. I am actually more impressed with Ross' season amidst this extremely talented WR group.

Nuk, Artavis Scott, and Deon Cain. All had significant impacts as freshmen.

Tee was ready. His QB was not.

Go back and look at what Dabo said about Tee from day one.

Re: Tee was ready. His QB was not.

Jan 3, 2019, 3:52 PM

Agreed with that. I dont understand why people dont get how KB could not push the ball down the field? KB was good with his legs that's it. No arm strength

I think Ross is a little more ahead of Tee at this point just from a weight stand point but Tee would of produced alot more last year with TL running the show. Ross is an absolute monster though. Hes a special stud. Tee and Ross are scary to see in the stacked formation on the same side of the field. You ain't stopping them

Go Tigers! Beat Alabama!
