"The Left" came out of the woodwork supporting Jussie when he made his outrageous claims initially. News networks, celebrities, and politicians galore, including a Presidential candidate.
The entire mainstream portion of the Democrat party came out in support, and even tried to pass 2 laws because of this "incident".
So yeah, the "Left" is 100% to blame.

Yes, actually. Go onto the Politics board of Reddit and look at the thousands of Leftists and Democrats supporting Smollett, saying things like "even if he did make this hoax, it was necessary to highlight all of the rampant racism in Trump's America".
Oh, and not one single person, not Kamala Harris, not Mark Hamill, not Cardi B (who is still maing videos on instagram saying Smollett is being "set up by racist cops"), etc. etc.

Yes, it did. And thankfully it did.
However, plenty within the Left wing establishment quickly rushed to his side, and have since turned a blind eye. Hell, Kamala Harris and Corey Booker still support Smollett and as early as yesterday have only said they will "wait for all of the facts" before they change their stance.
The Left and its most prominent figures are either sticking to their guns and shutting up, or they are quietly moving along.

This will help us heal. Lots of Trump supporters really want the blatant hypocrisy/double standard to stop. Lots of white folks are stressed out about blanket accusations of default racism.
And before anyone chimes in with sarcasm, no, I do not feel sorry for white people. I am just being practical and know the double standard is a huge roadblock to genuine easing of racial tension. And I genuinely want races to come together and treat one another equally. Not use identity as political/social/moral leverage. It's destructive.
