It's great to be a Clemson Tiger!

'96 grad here, married to a Canadian girl. Her brother and a friend came down for the Citadel game last year and we had the time of our lives. The friend is a pilot in the Canadian military and was impressed with the events for Military Appreciation Day. They were absolutely floored by how quiet over 80,000 of the Clemson faithful were when the soldier's cross and 21-gun salute were done. You could have heard a pin drop in the stadium. Absolutely one of the most moving experiences a person can have, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Visiting with them in Canada over the last couple of weeks and the military guy said he was in Winnipeg (65 miles from the border, more or less directly north of Grand Forks, ND) for training and was wearing his Clemson hat, an orange one with a paw on the front. One of the guys there said "where did you get a Clemson hat?!" My pilot friend was impressed that the brand recognition of the Paw carries all the way to Canada.

So here's a heartfelt thanks from a Clemson boy to those who showed true Southern hospitality to a couple of Canadians on a beautiful November day last year. The only thing better than attending the game and festivities was watching those guys being introduced to championship caliber football, tailgating on the most beautiful campus on the planet, and hospitality truly done right.
