When you view the definition of a trapezoid do you tend

Feb 1, 2018, 7:41 PM

To view it in the inclusive or the exclusive camp? In other words does a trapezoid only have one parallel side or does it have at least one side. In other words some would argue that a parallelogram is always a trapezoid because it has at least one parallel side. Still others would argue that a trapezoid can only have one parallel side. I think if this controversy gets out we may have world war iiii. I for one will not rest tonight.

parrelellogram is always a trapezoid, but a trapezoid is not necessarily a parrelellogram. Night night !

Just spent a semester watching my teen do Geometry homework every night. A trapezoid is not a parallelogram because only one pair of sides is parallel.

Is this a common core math question?

Feb 1, 2018, 8:11 PM

Because it makes no sense.

A trapezoid is NEVER a parallelogram because its parallel sides must be different in length (but have the same angle to the adjacent sides.

By the way, this is posted on the wrong board. It should be posted under basketball, because it doesn't make any sense.

I don't want to get trapped in this trapezoid controversy. But I like the Indians definition of a right triangle.

The Squaw of the Papoose is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides.

I'd forgotten all about Freak-a-zoid, but now I clearly remember my roommate referring to some people that way!
