Interesting on the Finebaum show, he basically said that

Malzahn is on the hot seat and that the AD making a statement today was the possible beginning of the end for Malzahn.
Paul said that the trustees were split on the inital hiring and that they are still not all behind Malzahn, and that they have already started to find funds for the 32 MILLION buyout.
Amazing that he might be booted with that high of a buyout.

you're able to snag 32 million.
I think I would quietly call some wrong plays, mix up some signals, etc if I was Malzahn just to try to force Auburn's hand.
Get my 32 million and then get hired as OC somewhere for 900K a year until I'm ready to hang it up.

Yep. A little Wikipedia search shows he’s 52 yrs young. Early retirement here we come. Take the money and run.

Couldn't even beat a sorry UT last week while he was trying to call the right plays . My guess is they keep him at least another year or two . That is a big bite to have to chew ... even in SEC dollars .

If this happens, there needs to be some accountability above Malzahn too - AD, Presidents, and/or some of the BOT.
$32M of other people’s money they will have wasted. These people should run for Congress.

Malzahn just pledged a bunch of money to the football facilities too... He has pledged over a million dollars. He's going to indirectly help fund his own buyout.

Agreed. What an incredible misuse of funds.

$32M???? $32,000,000!!!!!! What the hell is going on in college sports where a mediocre coach has a $32M buyout. Not to get all PC here, but can you imagine what $32M could do for the public school systems of Alabama? If they were to spend $32M to get rid of him, then there's the staff to pay too...and then a new staff to hire. Who's a better option out there to come into the most difficult division in CFB? Who's gonna get that done?

I don't get this one either. It's not like anybody else wanted him. Not to the tune of 32 mil.
Heck Muschamps is pretty outrageous too @ 18 million

Started spending $32 million to a coach to LEAVE. It’s just too absurd. Like someone else said, I’m not trying to be all PC...I don’t mind coaches getting paid a lot...but $32 million to NOT coach us? $32 million is four years of current in-state tuition for 534 students. For what? To replace a “pretty good” coach?

Tim Cook, Apple CEO is an Auburn grad. They could probably find the $32 Million in the crease of one of his used couches. I think if they want him out, they will have no trouble finding the funds.

If Clemson dismisses Coach Swinney without just cause before the end of the current contract, the school must pay him $5 million for each remaining year of the contract. If Clemson fired Swinney this year, it would owe him $40,000,000.

...I'm sure he has something in his play book that would get rid of Malzahn for pennies on the dollar.

Their boosters will pony-up the money for the buyout...

and it won't cost the school a dime.
That would probably lessen their slush fund used to payoff the parents of players and recruits though.

The selection committee will feel sorry for the SEC and give them 2 more teams in playoffs with another 6 - 8 teams in bowl games so Auburn can make up the $32M with their shared revenue.
