Inspiring quote from USuC "I would have gone anywhere else"

Apr 6, 2019, 7:15 PM

South Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Dakereon Joyner saw a lot of live reps Saturday afternoon on the football field and then received his first round of media questions after the Garnet and Black Spring game.

After developing as a quarterback last season and taking a redshirt as a result only playing in one game, Joyner said there was never a time in his year removed he thought about moving positions.

“Not a chance. I would have gone anywhere else in the country,” Joyner said. “I would have gone to Alabama or Clemson (to play another position). I came here to play quarterback and that’s what I’m going to do. I know my coaches believe in me and that’s that.”

Personally I think this is kinda sad. Here's a talented guy who's either getting bad advice or is too stubborn to take any good advice he's getting!

I wouldn't knock the kid too much. He might just be waking up to the fact that a snake oil salesman told him what he wanted to hear.

Tebow won two National Championships and a Heisman as a quarterback. He had a legitimate reason for thinking he could play qb.

I think he is a very nice young man, but I am kind of glad he did not come here, as I don't think he would playing anywhere .... offense or defense. We have at least six or eight DB's that I think are better. I hope he gets into a position for some playing time at Scar.

Hmmm idk the whole situation seems a little funny to me, I could play for the best team in the country or Alabama but I think I would rather loose to them instead, seems like really bad logic even for a senior in hs. I’m sure what he meant to say was if I wanted to sit on a bench my entire college career I would have went to Clemson or Alabama.

It took McElwain a couple of years to realize his mistake too, so let's just wait until the light comes on for this kid. He will transfer after this year - you heard it here first.

The difference in the coaches at Clemson and Alabama vs UofSuC is they were telling this kid the truth. They see he doesn’t have the talent to be a college quarterback but does have the talent to play other positions. Of course these guys don’t know what they are talking about, it’s not like they are winning national championships on a regular basis.

Hey, D[A]J, Clemson and Alabama aren't "ANYwhere" else

Apr 7, 2019, 8:56 AM

They're where EVERYbody else wants to go.
