If you go look at the rosters for the AAF football league

Feb 7, 2019, 4:24 PM

that's kicking off this weekend, it quickly becomes evident that this is a way for guys who haven't been able to find any gainful employment since they left college 5-10 years ago get a paycheck for some part-time work. I'm anticipating this league will generate a level of excitement akin something like to getting a new title at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

not rely on big TV money, they will do fine. I'd go if Greenville had a team and the price was right.

I think the hope is that the undrafted free agents that don’t go to nfl go there.

Then it’s a sort of farm system, as inevitably some of those young guys would become good enough for the NFL.

His name automatically shows up with anything post season in Birmingham. Eventually he'll be replaced by Jake Bentley.

there's been a few low-level semi-pro teams in Roanoke

through the years, don't remember the various leagues. All teams, and I think all the leagues, folded after 1, at most 2, years. I don't think any of them had even a D1 alum, maybe a couple DII-III's, but mostly HS players who 1) just couldn't give it up 2) had some dream they'd be discovered.

Seems like it would be entertaining, but it's mostly just sad.

Maybe this one you mentioned is higher on the food chain. But still mostly just sad.
