If Tomorrow Clemson Could Drop Coots as Annual Rivalry Game

Feb 26, 2019, 2:27 PM

What team would you add to replace them for alternating annual home games? and why? I keep landing on the folks down in Athens, but then I could make a great case for Bama. Maybe the Domers as a flyer.

Siriusly, why would we drop them? They're the best you could hope for in a rival.
They're arrogant, idiotic, delusional, easily hated and to top it all off....they
suck out loud. You can just enjoy beating the blue hell out of them with no concern
they'll even make it a game.

Georgia, hands down. For all the reasons above except .... they do win. And they also generally beat the Coots so if we beat them then we also beat the Coots aye? So that’s really 2 SEC wins a year...

It ain't going to happen, but if it did, I would go with Georgia, Florida or Tennessee.

The coots are our rivals. It is the most important game.

Feb 26, 2019, 2:36 PM

Dabo knows that, he learned the hard way.

Re: The coots are our rivals. It is the most important game.

Feb 27, 2019, 8:42 AM

It is only the most important game if your content on winning the local game. If your primary goal is winning the Nstional Championship then there are a lot more important games including the National Championship, the Bowl game, the ACC championship, Florida St and then every other conference game. The “other” USC game falls just above the games versus non power 5 teams.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well Dabo is our coach and he disagrees with you. Winning

Feb 27, 2019, 8:45 AM

the National Championship is not one of his goals. Winning the State Championship is one of his goals. Beating your rival does not come at a cost of losing any other game. Dabo prepares for every game the same way. There is no next week, there is no last week.

Hawaii

Feb 26, 2019, 2:38 PM

Why would you ever want to go to alabama or Indiana ...repeatedly?

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

I would just rather rotate through a lot of big name teams

Feb 26, 2019, 2:48 PM

Especially those we've never played or haven't in a long time.

I prefer Florida. We recruit heavily down there, players would love playing there every other year, and it would be a great destination game for the fans.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, we could definitely benefit from playing down there

Feb 26, 2019, 8:56 PM

some.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd hate to give up an easy game before the ACC championship

Feb 26, 2019, 3:46 PM

but I'd gladly give them up for an annual game vs. UGA, Bama, Auburn, maybe even UF or Tenn.

after rethinking it...I really enjoy beating the tar out of them so I'm good.

WHAT !!! Our rivalry pre-dates sports, from before we were even founded uscjr has hated us. The football game is the longest uninterrupted series in the South. We still compete for ever shrinking state dollars.

Plus no other school would consider us a rival, they have their own rival to hate. It takes two to have a rivalry.

My answer would be either Ga. Tech, Auburn or maybe West Virginia because any would be great to destroy multiple seasons in a row. Maybe UofSuck could replace us with UNCheat.

Go Tigers!!

Can’t believe I’m going to admit this but

Feb 26, 2019, 7:22 PM

I miss FSU being good. I miss waking up the morning of that game being all jacked up.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

You think FSU misses Clemson

Feb 26, 2019, 9:17 PM

Being bad? Probably so! LOL! They can suffer...wallow in misery. I. Don't. Care. I don't!

I'm about Clemson and no one else...and this coming from a Bama born (LA) Tide bleeding rabid fan. If I can convert and the hue of my blood can run orange...even in the darkest day, then I can find little solace in the misery of those who took advantage of the Tiger's 'darkest days'.

Enjoy the bright lights...the warm sun at your back...and stay humble and proud, Tiger fans! :)

Let anyone else be good rather than those native semi-holes!!!

May they perpetually be Commodore awful in football!!!

Agreed. Our rivals are in order:

Bama
Georgia
Ohio St
Oklahoma
Whoever is the top ACC division opponent

Don't want to drop the coots, but would love to add wvu - they are as trashy as coots, maybe a little nicer. But very coot-like

Re: If Tomorrow Clemson Could Drop Coots as Annual Rivalry Game

Feb 27, 2019, 8:11 AM

I'd never want to drop the Coots as the Rivalry game. The whole point of a rivalry is that it transcends short termism and is built on a long standing tradition.

If however, you push me to make a change, then the only one I'd adopt is for Clemson to follow the lead of the NFL, and play a game here in the UK, so that I could attend in person. :)

My choice would to save the weekend for the "Carolina".

We don't hand down their beatdowns as often as we used too... too many years apart.

Why can't we host both alternating the years? Coots on odd, Carolina on even, Clemson forever on top.

Re: If Tomorrow Clemson Could Drop Coots as Annual Rivalry Game

The answer is obvious. Our state championship should be with Citadel and it would improve our

strength of competition rating.

2024 student level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The only other natural rivalry is UGA

Feb 27, 2019, 9:44 AM

As much as I cannot stand them, they should be on our schedule every year.
