From the Big East with the intention of making the ACC look bad, what would they have done differently from what they’ve actually done?

Can’t argue with your insight. At this point you have to wonder if Miami will ever be a consistent top 10 program again. The football landscape has gotten a lot smaller and too many programs are pulling players from south Florida so their recruiting base is not what it used to be. Plus where’s college football interest and energy? Hard to find in Miami.
