I went to the 1982 Cards-Braves NLCS game in ATL

I say "Game" singular because that was it. The only baseball playoff game played in Atlanta between 1969 and 1991.

Me and my college buddies got tix and splurged to get a room at the ATL Hilton for the weekend, 5 of us in one room. Game 3 on Sat, Game 4 on Sunday. Down 2-0 already in the series, but eternal hope flickered. What a perfect weekend. But Saturday got rained out, postponed until Sunday. FACK. There's your sign. So we stayed in the room Sat afternoon - the Clemson @ UVA game was on TV and we watched. We beat White Meat 48-0 because UVA was White Meat, we never lost to them. At least I still have that one good memory from that cursed weekend.

We were SO PSYCHED for this game ---- Braves had SUCKED my entire life pretty much. But they were PLAYOFF CALIBER now.

Then the game started. It was similar to this, not quite as bad. Cardinals waited until the 2nd inning to score 4 runs and just destroy our hopes. Crowd never got louder than a dull murmur the rest of the day. It was best-of-5, so season over. Game 4 tickets = worthless.

What a buzz kill, I still have such vivid memories of that let down.
