UPI
BALTIMORE -- DeChane Cameron's 11-yard pass to running back Rudy Harris midway through the fourth quarter Saturday lifted No. 19 Clemson to an 18-17 victory over Maryland in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.

Harris' TD gave the Tigers, 2-1, their first lead since the second quarter.

The winning score climaxed an eight-play, 68-yard drive and overcame a 17-12 Maryland lead with 7:59 left.

The Terrapins, 2-1, led 14-10 at halftime on Scott Zolek's 34-yard pass to Gene Thomas and a 1-yard run by Troy Jackson. Zolek was nailed for a third-quarter safety when he recovered a bad snap in the end zone, but Dan DeArmas kicked a 39-yard field goal to increase Maryland's lead to 17-12 with 10:25 left in the game.

Clemson jumped to a 3-0 lead on Chris Gardocki's 53-yard field goal midway throught the first period. After Thomas' TD with nine minutes left in the half, Clemson's Doug Thomas returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a 10-7 lead. It was the second 98-yard return of the season for Thomas.

Maryland used 11 plays to travel 63 yards on its next posession before Jackson scored Maryland's first rushing touchdown of the season.

My only football game ever in a baseball stadium and it was a terrible experience. At least we won.

I recall Maryland had a guy twirler which is not that big a deal now but back in 1990 it was shocking.

Baseball stadium was strange experience. Maryland fans were raucous and looked down upon us.

I recall feeling lucky we escaped with a win on that one.

We had fun touring Washington the Friday before the game.
