Independent of opinions on the "ban" specifically...

Feb 5, 2017, 2:10 PM

I am glad to see the President getting his first taste of "checks and balances". That's how our government is supposed to work. If it's good, the administration will demonstrate it is good, and the courts will allow it. If it doesn't pass muster, they'll change it as needed to make it so.

I think the ACLU was judge shopping.***

Could be. If so, it will get overturned on appeal...

Feb 5, 2017, 2:42 PM

All the way up to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

Pubs did this Obama in Texas.***

I must've missed these types of posts

From you the past 8 yrs.

You didn't miss anything.

Feb 5, 2017, 3:56 PM

I'm a newcomer to politics, really. Made many religion posts over the years here, but not many on politics until the primary process started in this past election.

That said, even my novice mind can remember a couple of instances of the courts checking President Obama, and that was a good thing, as well.

No you aren't. Your self righteousness and passive aggressive attitude has been here for as long as I have been here.

Prod is passive aggressive? I don't think so.***

Do you really want courts ruling on EO's and legislation

Feb 5, 2017, 4:02 PM

based on whether it's "good" or not?

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

By good, I mean Constitutionally, of course.

Feb 5, 2017, 4:04 PM

I apologize for assuming people would know what I meant. My mistake.

Fair enough***

The President's complaints, as I see them, on Twitter

Feb 5, 2017, 4:29 PM

are misdirected. It is not a judge's responsibility to make Americans more safe from foreigners. It is his/her responsibility to decide whether a law or act is Constitutional. It is the President's responsibility to execute law in such a way to keep American's safe, within the bounds of the Constitution. If Americans are not safe, as he claims, then he and Congress need to quickly craft a Constitutionally sound way to make them so. Or very quickly demonstrate the Constitutionality of the executive order. I have not seen or heard him try to justify the order on Constitutional terms, which is where his energy should be directed.

the DOJ did sign off on it***

Well, did they REALLY have a choice? He would just fire anyone that opposed Him anyway.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A question on your opinion.

Feb 5, 2017, 5:22 PM

If a terrorist slips through this and kills an American which branch of the government is held responsible for the failure of our system which allowed him entry? Do you really think this is the first time in our history that this issue has come up?

Remember, there are only three branches of government from which to choose.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A terrorist attack, in my opinion, is not a failure

Feb 5, 2017, 7:59 PM

of any branch of the government. It is a failure of the terrorist.

I'm not a government is awesome guy, but I do think our leaders do want us to be safe and do the best they can to that end.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As I said when this first started...

Feb 5, 2017, 8:03 PM

I don't believe the "ban" EO is wrong, but I don't feel it does much of anything to make Americans safer. So I obviously don't believe any delay in its execution will put Americans at further risk.
