From some things that were said when the Tennessee thing was happening is that he interjected his name into the coaching search to get him and his coaches raises. Not for one second do I think Tennessee was interested in Doeren. It was said he called Fulmer to express his interest then immediately his agent contacted NC State saying Tennessee was putting the heat on ole Doeren. Not many big time programs out to hire a middle of the road ACC coach who has done nothing in the 5 or 6 years he's been there.
