Actually for a few years it worked quite well for old PJ while he was at GT . It's just that high level athletes don't want to play in a scheme that doesn't do much to prep them for the next level . Steele's defenses didn't get it figured out . Brent Venables did though .

and a good one is almost impossible to stop. The biggest problem with the option offense is it doesn't bode well unless you play almost perfect without any mistakes because you must gain ground nearly every play because mistakes are very, very difficult to overcome.
