"held on" to beat Pitt by 14 !?!?!

Feb 28, 2019, 8:47 AM

Other than the first few minutes, was there ever another point during the game when the outcome was even remotely in doubt?

Even during Pitt's second half run, the deficit was never within 10 points.

Depends on what narrative you want to spin***

Yes they got within 8. I don’t think the game was really in doubt but when a team is up by 27 and lets the other team come back a little bit the headlines going to say “hung on“

no, never went to single digits in the second half. 10 is as close as they got. the game was always controlled

That’s right. They cut it to 10 three times. Eli had a dunk and Tyson hit two 3’s each time. My bad I thought they cut it to 8 before Eli dunked

I don’t remember them getting it down to 8. 10 was the lowest i remember. 9 minutes with only a basket and a pair of free throws can get any team back into a game. Thank goodness for the young fella coming through on the clutch 3’s. He deserves more minutes.

I was wrong it was 10

Just like the game vs them in LJ this year

Feb 28, 2019, 9:33 AM

They went on a pointless 13-0 run to end the game to only lose by 13

I'll bet BB was not particularly pleased the way we played in the second half. He will not tell the press that, but you can bet he will let them know it in practice. I thought they showed a total lack of focus, much like Louisville did against Duke when they thought they had that game won. You can't always turn it back on when the other team makes a run. Fortunately we could.

I agree...had they gotten it closer, that may have been right, but...

Feb 28, 2019, 11:05 AM

After watching the replay since I missed it live...here’s what I saw:

- We came out hitting every shot for the first several minutes.
- After that we settled into a little back and forth. The flaming hot shooting doesn’t last forever folks.
- Somewhere along the way, the refs decided to send Pitt to the foul line repeatedly. Extremely one sided officiating. But we know Mr. Luckie was there....he is the new Karl Hess for us.
- They chipped away at the lead a bit and we had a few foolish plays. To their credit, they didn’t throw in the towel, but they also scored nearly half their points from the FT line thanks to the zebras.
- We shut the door whenever they cut it to 10.
- We went up and pounded a team on the road..good conference win.

Did you watch the 8 min drought by Clemson's offense in the second half?

Feb 28, 2019, 11:09 AM

Yes, the win was in doubt at one point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I did see it...

Feb 28, 2019, 12:47 PM

yet the deficit was never any closer than 10 points.

A Clemson win was never in any real serious doubt.

When we went from up 24 to only 10, with 8 minutes to go

Feb 28, 2019, 11:23 PM

I admit things weren't looking too good to me. Luckily we came up with a few good plays to keep it from getting any closer.

Have we ever lost a game leading by ten with 8 minutes left?

Feb 28, 2019, 11:15 AM

Something tells me we have.

More than once.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This team managed to lose a 5-pt lead with 26 secs left. Anything is possible.***

I was pretty worried when we couldn't score and they cut it to 10 and had the ball.

Just like we do EVERY game, we came out and tried to slow play them in the second half! Not a players decision! We have lost a large first half lead numerous times this year!
