How odd would it have been if Clemson fans blamed

Jan 26, 2019, 10:53 PM

last year's Sugar Bowl loss on the fact that Bama didn't have to play in the SECCG and rested and prepped the whole time for the playoff while the other teams had to play. They actually think Clemson has a bye until they play Bama. That line of thought is what got them the a$$ whipping they just experienced. Having zero respect for other teams because of their schedule and assuming they are better and play better people is what got them the butt whipping and embarrassment on the biggest stage. By the way, that is the same line of thought that got Georgia an A$$ kicking from Texas and South Carolina an incredible 28-0 blowout, shutout to the Virginia Cavaliers.

When we beat Bama in Tampa, it was accepted by everyone after the bowl season and rivalry Saturday that year that the ACC was the best conference hands down.

The ACC is 14-6 vs the SEC on Rivalry Saturday over the last 5 years. This year the ACC was 1-3, but the previous four years was 13-3.

Keep coming up with excuses Bama. Even if Clemson could prepare the entire year due to the ACC, Bama should never get beat 44-16 in which they say no mas with a minute to go in the first half and, out of fear, not try to score. Punt with 10 minutes to go in the game and then watch Clemson drive from the one yard line to the Bama 5 and take a mercy knee at the Bama 5 with 35 second to go. To hear how good the SEC is, there is no set of circumstances at all that could lead to that beatdown in Santa Clara. Bama would love to use the "we just didn't want to be there" excuse that the SEC loves to fall back on, but it is just not an option on natty night.

I have rewatched the Cotton Bowl and Notre Dame had much more pressure on us early than Bama managed the whole night. Notre Dame was a much better team than Bama in my opinion. They certainly had a much better defense and kicking and punting game.

The real reason Bama got beat was because

They actually never had to press all season. Their starters never had to play four quarters. Prior to the SECCG, their toughest SEC tests were LSU 29-0 and Miss State 24-0. Those two pathetic offenses made the Bama defense look invincible. The rest of the SEC defenses made Tua think he was better than he was. The problem Bama had was not an ACC problem, it was a Clemson and Bama problem. They just need to stop with the excuses and face the fact that they had a defensive coordinator that was in way over his head against our offense. They had an offensive coordinator that got taken to school by Brent Venables. Their defensive line was no match for our offensive line and was not as good as Notre Dames's defensive line. Their offensive line had some success in the running game, but could do nothing to prevent penetration by our defensive line. Nor could they do anything with their running attack in the red zone. Our receivers and quarterback made a mockery of their secondary because we were just better and we had no pressure from their defense. None of this had anything to do with extra preparation or other ACC teams.

Bama was soft that night, played intimidated and then were forced into submission and quit. That was all about Bama and Clemson on that field. It was not about any unknown schemes or extra wrinkles from extra preparation.

I feel like all SEC teams are propped up in the early rankings which make the media and fans assume when they beat each other that they have really accomplished something. I think ND was just as good an opponent or maybe even better than Ok. Ok had a really good qb, but has never had a defense. We could have put 7 more on the board against Alabama, but Dabo showed class. ND’s defense certainly played better than Alabama’s did

We practiced all year for the playoff. Every game was designed to stress every player in our four deep at every position to prepare for whoever we faced in the first round.

We faced programs which exposed our players to a great variety of offensive and defensive talent. Those games Clemson a great advantage over Alablamama. When our opponents weren't strong we played much further into our depth charts than others would have to insure that each and every muscle and each and every mind of each and ever player was stressed to a level which would produce the best every athlete on our team could be.

Some facts about Clemson and Alablamama this season. Alablamama beat its competition by much larger margins than Clemson throughout. Alone that means absolutely nothing. When coupled with the fact that Clemson laid a bi1chslapping up side Alablamama's waterheads one might make the case that either my first two paragraphs are right or Alablamama played a much weaker schedule.

44-16 with 30 unanswered to finish the game and Clemson left a bushel basket of points to rot on the field. It could have been 60+ to 16.
