They pay for it. In the old 1AA format schools put in a bid to the ncaa to host. While the highest bidder isn’t necessarily guaranteed to win you know how the ncaa works.

The FCS Championship is in Frisco, Tx

and has been since 2010. Previously it was in Chattanooga starting in 1997. North Dakota St has never hosted a championship game.

Maybe not for the final FCS National Championship game, but NDSU has both of their semifinal games at home this year. I thought it might have had something to do with seeding (i.e. higher ranked seed is the home team??). Either way, seems to be an advantage for NDSU...

Also appears James Madison is having both of their semifinal games at home as well...

They get home playoff games. The reason is simple.

NDSU gets 18,000 to every game. Wofford gets 7,000 for a playoff game vs Furman.

I was the assistant AD at Furman when we played GaSouthern in the national championship game in Pocatello, ID of all places.

Regarding SDSU and James Madison hosting semifinal games. How do you host two semifinal games? Isn't one game a quarterfinal?
