Here is what I am learning about parking at Levi
Jan 4, 2019, 1:50 PM
|
|
Levi Stadium parking lot opens 3.5 hours before kickoff. Not good for me. My hotel says it is best to drive to Caltrain station and take the train to Levi. The train station has parking. The train runs every 15 minutes for football games. If this is true I will be taking the train and not driving to the game. My hotel is about 10 miles away. Can any Bay Area people in here confirm this is a good plan?
TIA

Not sure what TLDR means. I'm trying to learn of parking not some new lingo.

It’s a joke. It means “too long, didn’t read”, which...since you’re not feeling like being funny, was sarcasm.
I hope you have a nice trip and find your parking. And maybe take a deep breath and have an adult beverage or two.
Relax fam (this is a new age abbreviation for the English word, “family”), it’s all gonna work out.

My guess is this is a public trans. push

Don't get me wrong I am all in favor of a US push for more/better public transportation....
If you have large fan bases from Alabama and South Carolina where driving is pretty much the only option and you've killed the opportunity for decent car travel to your destination....help people out with a "we suggest the following considering our mode of transportation out here"
Least of all CA is gonna leave the expected bad taste in the mouth of both fan bases.

method works for getting into DC and ATL. I’ve had good success with both those cities rail systems on game day.
Plus this pic makes it look like the drop off point is favorable.

Re: train to stadium

OK - first point. You MAY be able to park at the Caltrain station but then again, that parking may not be available. If your hotel is close ask if they can give you a shuttle ride or worst case - take Uber. Monday is a work day and nearly all Caltrain station parking lots are full early in the day.
Second point - the photo someone posted is not Caltrain. It is VTA transit. There are multiple rail systems in the bay area. Caltrain runs from San Francisco to San Jose on the peninsula. You would transfer from Caltrain to VTA at the Mountain View station.
Is this a good way to get to the stadium - yes, I think it is great.

Seconded. I live in the west side of San Francisco which is not as accessible to trains as downtown. I am still planning on taking the train. Traffic on the peninsula sucks and it's a lot cheaper than paying for parking or risking a DUI should you choose to imbibe.

How about these two options?
Jan 4, 2019, 6:28 PM
|
|
We are staying in Fremont. From what I can tell our best 2 options are:
1) VTA 251 Express (now called Warm Springs BART bus direct to Levi Stadium - they run a special service on game days/CFP and it takes about 20 minutes. It starts 2 mi from hotel so will probably walk if its nice or Uber
OR
2) Uber to one of the VTA stations such as Great Mall and take VTA to Great America station at Levi
I'm leaning toward #1 as it will be the least costly but curious what those in the area think. Great Mall appears to have tons of parking so do you think we could drive there (instead of Uber) and get a spot?

I'm going with a friend who lives in the area. He has been to some SF games there and his son plays for Oregon who was there last week. If he has any suggestions when I get out there Sunday, I will try and post something.
