Rumor on FGF that Muschamp is getting fired today.

Supposedly 10 a.m. press conference. No idea if true. It would be ballsy to do it now rather than wait until after December 31 and save yourself 4 million bucks of buyout. Maybe they've negotiated a lesser payout for allowing him to immediately run off to coach with whoever would have him.

THe early signing period has changed the culture on firing head coaches. Schools want to get the new coach in place before signing day hopefully to salvage a little from a recruiting standpoint.
If true, uofsc's problem will be finding a new coach before signing day. There are not a lot of candidates out there and there are several schools already in the hunt for those few.

The recruits and the early signing day works both ways. FSU's recruiting class supposedly fell apart with the news of Taggerts firing.

The odds of any school getting a new head coach in place, and a staff, before the early signing period is near zero. AD's need to accept the fact that if they are going to pull the trigger and fire a coach, they are going to take a hit in recruiting.

Probably because he gave Muschamp a completely unnecessary contract extension/buyout right before the UVA game. I could see them firing Tanner and then let the new AD pick the coach he wants.

It seems with all of these coaches being fired and that will be fired, that it will be hard for the Coots to find anyone. They need to go for a quality assistant. What schools will have job openings?

Didn't Michigan finally manage to beat someone with a pulse this year? Though they are still going to get kicked around by The Ohio, so that won't bode well for him.

Who do they think they're gonna get?
They just did this exercise a few years ago and Muschamp was like their 6th or 7th choice. EVERBODY else turned them down. What's changed?
Running coaches off and ruining careers. Historically, I suppose it's who they are.
Just a bunch of hot-head wanna-bees.

don't know. and as somebody said above, maybe it's actually Tanner getting the can. That would kind of make sense. It would be a cheaper replacement, and maybe they'd get somebody who is actually competent when it comes to hiring football coaches.

When is the last time a coach was fired via a press conference when some sort of announcement wasn't made public prior to the press conference?
