Should Clemson forgo the TE position for a few seasons ? 4 WR sets look pretty good.
Axing for the SEC.

We've been running more 4 WR sets lately

I expect we'll run even more 4 WR sets in the playoffs. However, I wouldn't rule out an emergence of Braden Galloway next year as a TE that can line up both inside and outside and be a legitimate threat in the passing game like Jordan Leggett was. It's a huge advantage to be able to change formations without changing personnel.

Galloway has made a few nice catches this year so far. He also has dropped a couple of easy catches. He's going to get better and I expect him to be as big as a threat as our previous 3 TE's have been. especially if he adds another 15 to 20 pounds.

Agree. Leggett also had a learning curve and then he was GREAT. Galloway only played, I think, one year of high school football. He will improve drastically next year.

Were we able to keep Galloway at the 4 game limit and preserve a redshirt or did he cross that threshold? I would actually like to see some opportunities for him in the playoff games if he is available. He presents problems for second level defenders already.

Not even close. He's had snaps in every game except for Texas A&M.

Thanks, I thought he had played in more than four games... not a lot of targets. He's going to be a really good one.

a great HBack will replace the TE because of the added versatility; he can block on the edge or as a lead blocker for the back, be a receiving threat out of the back field or take direct snaps... we are going to make other teams employ the HBack as part of their base offense...

But the simple answer is that we will have too much talent not to consistently play with 4 WR's. Galloway has looked sharp with a few drops but he's really put on some size and I expect him to emerge big time next year. Trevor with 4-5 options at a time is going to be a nightmare for any team.

Don't forget about Amari Rodgers. He's no slouch himself.
I would guess that we will continue to run more and more 4 wide sets next year with Higgins and Ross on the outside and Rodgers and Kendrick playing the field WR position and the slot. I would guess that Amari would stay at the field position since he has more experience there with Kendrick taking over the slot since he is more raw as a WR.
Ngata and Ladson would likely be the backups to Higgins and Ross.

DK is a talent that has not even scratched the surface yet. Kid is a baller! He will breakout in 2019.

Don't worry, TE is coming back in 2019 starting with Braden Galloway. Watch out for this young man, going be even better than Leggett. And Lay is on the way too. But sure, the WRs will be as deep as we've ever seen.
