We know what you're doing and why. We all support your efforts to present a reasonable democrat candidate for the 2020 campaign. We also know it's a waste of time and we believe you agree.
Your party has moved way past the border of your comfort zone. We understand. We're sorry it happened to you but you're doing yourself and your beliefs a disservice by trying to remain a part of the democrat party now.
The problem comes to head for you when your present party eventually nominates a true socialist. You may vote for that person one time but you know when you pull that lever that it will be a step too far. This ideology which is being adopted by dems is irreversible.
Eventually you will move to independent because you realize the lesser of two evils is running against the democrat candidate.
Did I get anything right?

They have a customized website which I visit, input screen names in Tnet and get exact predictions of how the person that particular screen name behaves which allows their massive databases and huge computing facilities to predict exactly what the future holds for the subject of my input.
It's http://www.screwwithpeoplesminds.RNC

a centrist candidate over the socialists like they did in 2016. I don’t think it’s a waste of time. Five of the first six primaries are in conservative states, NH, Iowa, Nevada, SC, Bama.

Your party will eventually move beyond the very barrier of comfort level. If you do not believe this will happen and that it's moving quickly in that direction then I my comments are nothing but political hype. I'll take your word for it because as much as we disagree I am resolved to continue believing that you are honest and have a fine understanding of this and such political movement(s).
Your pushing one your party now considers a centrist is noble. After all, rats are the first to abandon a sinking ship. Now that's a cheap shot at the democratic party and extended with hopes you don't think I'm poking at you, sir.

Riley was Mayor for 40 years
Apr 9, 2019, 10:36 AM

He got his aquarium built and lined his pockets. Never did shat about the flooding in downtown CHS that's been a problem since the 1700's.
Tecklinburg has been mayor since 2016 and has already addressed it and got funding to fix it.
I guess it shows what matters when its something you are interested in fixing.

LOL, I'm certainly not the biggest Joe fan, but that man turned Charleston into what it is today. Could have pumped the brakes on the growth a bit, but still, this place mostly sings because of Joe.

He stifled the growth of downtown solely due to the SNOB's downtown. Notice anything different on King Street today vs 3 years ago? Only a complete revitalization of the entire area.
Riley wasn't near the king that some seem to think he was, and I think Tecklinburg is quietly showing that.

James Island, Daniel Island, Clements Ferry Road, etc. I don't agree with how he strongarmed his way to snagging those areas and how he pushed for more higher-than-bourgeois environments, but Charleston was a crime-infested cess pool of corruption before he came on board.
Greenberg also helped clean that up, love him or hate him.

"crime-infested cess pool of corruption"?
Apr 9, 2019, 3:23 PM
|
|
This certainly seems..strong.
Downtown flooding was one of the biggest issues (if not the biggest) that has kept the north end of the peninsula from growing since they filled it in with reclaimed land in the '20's. Riley was there for 40 years of the biggest growth..and built an aquarium.

I can't disagree on the flooding, but yeah, Charleston was swimming in crime and corrupt cops before Riley brought Greenberg in there. Venture above Calhoun and get mugged at gunpoint back then. Now, I think your biggest worry is having a drunk sorority girl vomit on you.

Thats more to do with gentrification than Joe Riley
Apr 9, 2019, 3:30 PM
|

He did bring in Greenburg, but he was treating a symptom not a cause.
The clean up of downtown started because the property values started going through the roof, and that was more of a national thing than any one thing that Riley ever did.

That gentrification didn't really start...
Apr 9, 2019, 3:34 PM
|

Until the 2000s. Greenberg's policies in the 1980s saw immediate effectiveness. It wasn't overnight but it made a large difference.
Disagree Riley didn't have a hand in that gentrification. He pushed initiatives in the early 2000s to get that ball rolling. Mount Pleasant started doing some similar things.
