Forbes Article - SEC gives Alabama a bonus, ACC divides by14

A good read about the impact of football success. Also, the ACC is really lucky to have Clemson right now.

Alabama

The SEC allows the school participating in the semifinals to keep $2,050,000, with an additional $2,150,000 if the team makes it to the championship game, which is in addition to the 1/15th distribution Alabama will receive along with all of the other SEC members (with a share to the conference office) for all bowl revenue.

There is also a travel allowance, which includes reimbursement of the actual costs for transporting an official party of 150 (including student-athletes, coaches, administrators, cheerleaders, bands, etc.), including $50 per one-way mile for a band/cheerleader travel allowance. Additionally, the institution receives $275,000 to cover lodging, meals, local transportation and other related expenses.

Clemson

At this time, the ACC does not award any additional monies to the team participating in the semifinals. The conference divides all bowl revenue, including CFP revenue, evenly among its 14 members after reimbursing expenses to the participating institution. Clemson will receive the expense allotment provided by the CFP.

Here's a look at how the two athletic departments and football programs match up using numbers using data from fiscal year 2017 the schools reported to the NCAA:

Total athletic department revenue

Clemson: $112,600,964

Alabama: $174,307,419

The Clemson BOT should demand revenue reimbursement for every CFP game beyond expenses. The ACC could certainly afford to give CU at least a half a million additional revenue for representing the conference. Somebody needs to also make it clear starting with ACC TV network revenue the CFP team needs to receive at least one million more from the ACC, especially if they make the championship game, win or lose.

Another example of Swoffie being cheap!

Go Tigers ??!!
