Why would you talk crap about an established D.C. who has lead a top 10 defense in the last 5 years, when you hired a coach that, again, who did you hire, do you even know his name. I think if I was a coot fan, I'd just be quiet about Venables, but then I have an actual education, so it's hard for me to understand the inner workings of a Coot.

I said that - as a whole- South Carolina fans are going to diss a Clemson hire. Clemson fans are going to diss a South Carolina hire.
The stats, and rankings don't matter a hill of beans when it comes to rival fans dissing each other.
When Bama won the national title in football, there were Auburn fans on the boards saying they sucked.
That's the way it works.

I was wondering why he would expect a South Carolina fan not to diss a Clemson hire - when Clemson fans would diss any South Carolina hire
that's the way it works.

It's illogical for a fan of a team (any team) to wonder why a fan of a rival school would diss a particular hire (or player) for what seems like no reason- when that's what rival fans do - without regard to facts, rankings, statistics, etc.
It's why a fan will defend his own player for something he says, but rip the crap out of a player on another team for saying the same thing.

would defend a hire that has been "dissed" by South Carolina, and yet, when I do that, you wonder why I would do that. You expect Carolina fans to "diss" a Clemson hire, which has happened (check out your brain surgeons over on FGF) and you would expect Clemson fan(s) (which I am) to defend said hire (which I did) and yet, you keep repeating yourself about wondering why I am defending Clemson's hire because I should expect South Carolina fans to diss anything Clemson does. I South Carolina fans are doing what you expect them to do, and I am doing what you expect me to do, and yet, this somehow merits you repeating yourself instead of possibly defending your illogical brethren.

Do you expect them to keep silent? Do you expect them to be impressed?

Why do you feel a need to keep justifying the guy? All he has to do is prove it on the field. Venables wasn't a bad hire, but Randy Shannon would have been a better hire.
The top RB in the draft did lose his last game at Billy Brice though. Of course, we can also say that about top 10 offensive picks from the previous 2 drafts as well.

David Pollack, Mike Stoops, Shakin The Southland have all said "politely" (though Shakin was direct), that his defenses underachieved when pitting Venables entire defense against his opponents' entire offense.

I agree our defense underachieved. I can't dispute that we faced the best offensive talent in college football last year but it was a let down for our defense. The only game out of our 3 losses that our defense didn't let us down was the OSU game. The offense had 5 turnovers I believe and OSU had great field position. OU had the talent but it was a breakdown by both players and coaches.

year considering the offensive powerhouses that were on their schedule. However, they did give up 42 to Georgia and 44 to Arkansas, the two best offenses they faced in conference play. Not exactly world-beating. How we managed to lay such an egg against them is beyond me. Hopefully the bitter taste of defeat is enough to inspire our young team to take this game more seriously on the field this time around.
