I think the first musical record i owned, was the soundtrack from the Muppet Movie.
As far as "mainstream" music, i just liked to listen what my dad liked to listen too. So any classic rock really, i probably didn't even know who they were at the time.
CCR, Allman Bros, Steve Miller, Amazing Rhythm Aces, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc

They had a piano player and an upright bass. I think that counts.

If by "kid" you mean 8-12 years old, then The Beatles.

If you mean 15-19, Van Halen. If you mean the 30-59 kid demographic, Jimmy Buffett.

That was when I was 5-10 years old and the Beatles were in their prime. Then Woodstock happened and I discovered Jimi Hendrix. As a teen it was Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. They are all still favorites.

Let me ask you this:
Oct 31, 2019, 4:52 PM
|
|
did you ever see Bobby Beers trip and tumble down a flight of jagged metal stairs, slash his forehead open, AND CONTINUE THE CONCERT?
No. Bobby Beers never did that. But Chris Cole sureasfuck did.

I liked rock and roll in the 50s but I just listened to what my mother's younger siblings played on the radio. The Beatles really got my attention.

It was not possible to be cooler.

And "as a kid" is kinda broad. First was Kenny Rogers. Then Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen. Then Alabama and Motley Crue. Then Aerosmith. MC Hammer. Then went with more classic rock in high school. Like classicer than some of them since they're now classic.
