Excellent analysis! You wonder why some of these things have not already been addressed.

knowledge level of Clemson. Chris Martin keeps referring to our young o-line. It has 4 seniors and a sophomore. Do your homework Chris.

^ WATCH since intelligent break-down of O's problems & Clemson's playcalling tendencies..

Oct 4, 2019, 11:47 AM

plus Oline is standing up too much & not getting push from a lower power stance.

Need to change up with new plays & formations not seen and use less of those Chad Morris passing plays, imho.

Re: ^ WATCH since intelligent break-down of O's problems & Clemson's playcalling tendencies..

Oct 4, 2019, 1:36 PM

Yep, and I'm not calling for any changes or anybodies head bc we have 8 or 9 months ago won a NCG against what was said to be the best Bama team in ages. But I am asking, wondering how is it, that coach Caldwell didn't identify these offensive line problems during the game, or at least at Halftime bc we know they have the film to view at the half, and that is what is meant by halftime adjustments!!!

Also, don't our FB program have a filming crew that films our practices for the purpose of correcting these same type problems with the coaches and players in film room study going over things that guys are doing wrong in practice and correcting it. OR, has practice film study gotten a little to relaxed bc our O line players are junior and seniors, and they're not suppose to need coaching anymore. Just asking bc people who don't work with our guys picks up on those things by browsing through our game film. Seriously though, isn't pad level one of the first thing taught when coaching lineman on both sides of the ball?

Other coaches on teams we play against couldn't pick out our weakness or slackness if they wasn't already there when they began film study on us looking for our weaknesses. If our guys were doing it right before, other coaches would feel that we were pretty solid on our O line, and wouldn't make their whole game plan exploiting the weaknesses on our O line that Michael Felder was pointing out.

IMO, when people that are around each other all the time and they're all friends, what each are doing is usually overlooked, or nobody just don't want to cause waves bc things is going well the way things are, so why pisss anybody off by muddying the water. Well just maybe bc of the way UNCheat was pushing our O line around, Just maybe Dabo should muddy the water a little bc our coaches are making some of the best salaries in college FB, and maybe they should get back to doing what they do best, and have the best coached players on the field without blaring weaknesses bc fundamentals are being forgotten, or it appears they're not being used to their advantage, and get our guys whipped back into shape...

The players they are coaching now are some of the best talented guys than what they have had in the past, and our coaches should have them playing better than the talent they have had in the past. Five games into the season, our O line should be clicking much better than they are now. It just doesn't seem right that the side of the ball that lost the most of the talent, their play kept us out of L column. IMO, that tells a story of something not being as right as it should be for me personally!!! It's like the waters on the O side of the ball got pretty muddy last weekend, and it's time that Dabo should get that cleaned up during the off week!!!!

Good summary - allorange ... can’t disagree with your analysis.... Was looking forward to our O-line being dominant this year .... -<img border=">

Yep, was supposed to be our strong suit... I think that’s more why we dropped in the polls instead of calling analysts out. Not everyone is against Clemson.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg2016_pickem_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Some criticism of Clemson is warranted, but...

Oct 4, 2019, 12:00 PM

you also have to credit UNCheat. Their preparation, coaching and play was all very good.

The Holes played their A game while Clemson played its C game.

A on A and Clemson wins by at least three or four TD's

Disagree on the analysis of the first play.

Oct 4, 2019, 2:47 PM

They keep harping on the “lack of push” by the OL, but the play failed because the defense either knew exactly what was coming, or they gambled.

It was blocked perfectly if the Heel defender doesn’t take a risk and ignore the motion man.

If the ball is given to the motion man, there would have been no one over there to stop him. He would have looked like Artavis Scott running loose against SCAR.

If anything can be pointed to as a mistake, it would perhaps be that we have become too predictable on what we do with that play.

Certainly, ETN has broken some big runs off of it in the past.

Re: Disagree on the analysis of the first play.

Oct 4, 2019, 3:44 PM

I think that is what is being said but, when a good Xs and 0s coach studies our film they see and understand that most of our shifting and moving is nothing more than window dressing trying to get them to move out of the way of what we're going to do. Some have said and I agree that, we have been running the same plays for so long, that most teams we play on our regular schedule are use to what we do and they are setting dead on ready for it.... Tony, Jeff, and Dabo really should get together and re-design and re-scheme our plays, and something should be done like that all through the season to avoid defenses from reading what we're about to do before the ball is snapped. I'm sure that you have watched enough of our games, that even you have figured out what we're about to do next. GOOD X & 0 coaches can smell it and see it coming before we ever snap the ball, and they have call signs they relate to their defense before the play can get started... There was less than a handful of plays that UNCheat coaches missed, or our talent is good enough to make the play anyway. That to me goes back to when Tony use to say that it didn't matter bc he wanted to force our will on opponents. Maybe so, but like I said, good Xs & 0s coaches can scheme against what we're doing most of the time, and the UNCheat DC had us in the palm of his hands rocking on ready, he was like bring it on big boys!!!;)

Oct 4, 2019, 4:46 PM [ in reply to Re: Disagree on the analysis of the first play. ]

Just remembering some old comments of coach Howard.” Don’t care if they know what I’m going to do. Just care if they can stop me.” “ if you don’t block, you don’t gain”. Enough said.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly. That first play wasn't on the O-line at all...

Oct 4, 2019, 3:57 PM [ in reply to Disagree on the analysis of the first play. ]

Simpson was the only one that pulled by the design of the play and he mauled his guy. Problem was they knew exactly what was coming and had more guys than we could block on that right side. It was a play recognition and/or tendency issue, not the O-line. In fact, the only problem with the OL demonstrated in their video was the false starts, and that is easily fixed.

I put the other blitz that got to Lawrence on him or our coaches. He has to see that coming and audible out of that play to a hot read. He didn't do so and paid the price.

It's odd because I've been reading a lot of really good analysts on DW lately and one issue they are noticing is that he is having trouble reading the blitzes pre-snap. I'm starting to wonder if that's something our QB coach needs to focus his attention.

Re: Exactly. That first play wasn't on the O-line at all...

Oct 4, 2019, 6:29 PM

I think you’ve hit on something there. DW4 made him look like a genius because of his ability. You could also see TL having problems with communication issues. I put a lot on the coaches plural for showing tendencies.

They seem to have one or two games a year with the same problem.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg2016_pickem_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah we need to run something else off that look

Oct 4, 2019, 5:41 PM [ in reply to Disagree on the analysis of the first play. ]

The obvious evolution is to swing the ball out to Amari. It's pretty clear that UNC knew exactly where the ball was going there.

Re: Yeah we need to run something else off that look

Oct 5, 2019, 4:12 PM

Yep, but until a coach can recognise that the problem is coming from something he is doing wrong, the problem will never be fixed!!!

Oct 4, 2019, 4:23 PM

Tape don’t lie but it don’t tell the whole story either. Especially if you cherry pick a couple of plays.
If you want a true analysis of the game you need to show the good and the bad.
Also include the false starts which were drive killers over and over.
Include the dropped screen pass that should Have been used but it was dropped.
But also include incredible plays by offense and defense and finally include 21 - 20.... Clemson did win for the 20th time in a row!

Re: TNET: WATCH: 'Tape Don't Lie' breakdown of Clemson offense 'problems' vs. UNC

I can accept that, but you have to accept when the film and the stats are saying basically the same thing....

There's September tapes...October tapes...

Oct 4, 2019, 8:24 PM

November tapes....

And....

Ring Season tapes.

None of 'em look the same, for obvious reason.

Year to year...yeah, there's something similar...for...ahem...again...obvious reasons.

Let the Tigers come to you...quit looking for that you're not going to see in September. It's not gonna happen. And what you see in January...you're not gonna see in October.

I'm slow to learn..at times, but five years in...even I can see what's happening. Enjoy the ride into the 'Best is Yet to Come' sunset!

Back to Tracin' my Buffalo! ;)

Yes I did! OCs, I said it. Caldwell, I said it this summer! D Watson covering for coaches lack of offensive creativity... said it said it said it. Some of you jumped all over me but all of a sudden you’re saying it????

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not One to say I told you Guys so BUT....

Oct 5, 2019, 12:21 AM

I'll say it. If you were complaining about Caldwell over the summer after the way the line performed at the end of last year you don't need to comment on football. If you were complaining above Scott and Elliott then you are a special kind of stupid. If you made the comments last summer, then you probably made them last year too. You wouldn't have been talking about how smart you were in the middle of January and you want be talking January 2020 either.
