some big school somewhere is going to be willing to write Coach Brent Venables a blank check to become their Head Coach next year. His love of Clemson will be sorely tested to resist such a move. He knows his sons are in good hands with Dabo, or either they could follow him where ever he goes.
We should start a Go Fund Me to kick in the extra $$$ between a DC salary and a Head Coach salary, to take away the financial inducement. He already knows he would never find a better situation from a stability standpoint. He will have a tough decision to make, because the offers will come, no doubt about it.

Yeah, I doubt it too. They all seem to love their lives in Clemson. I understand the number, but he is already a millionaire collecting more and more each year, in a place where his whole family loves Clemson. Dabo too. BV is a Bud Foster type to me, happy leading a dominant D.

It will NOT happen. He has 2 sons on the team. That is his dream to coach them plus he may not want Head Coach job.

I think we’re fine with Brent for a while. He seems like the type of guy that doesn’t want to be a HC. He’s a perfect coordinator and he loves what he does. He also loves Dabo and Clemson.

I have no idea what Venables or any of our assistant coaches are currently thinking but...
If you look around college football and see the huge separation between elite and the next level of teams, why as an assistant for one of the elite teams would you go try to beat your against a wall at one of the lower level teams?
It's not like the coaches from second tier programs are going anywhere because they seem close enough to winning big to their administration that they get to stay and get extensions.
It is more likely that a coach who accepts a power 5 job right now ends up like Chad Morris than Dabo Swinney.
The way the elite players are becoming more willing to go to a good program to get to the NFL instead of searching for playing time, the gap is only getting wider.
Again, I'm sure that we will lose some assistants soon that want to move into a position with more control over the program, but putting myself in their shoes I'm not sure that I would do the same.

Coach Swinney was forced to replace coach V. I suspect he would find another top flight coach somewhere. Hopefully he will not be put in this position but if he is he will make a great choice.

He doesn’t appear to be driven by the ambition to be a HC like some great assistants. Money doesn’t seem to be his primary motivator.
BV makes a ton of money, has great job security, and he gets to do what he loves to do ... actually coach players.
Never say never, but in this case you can almost say never as long as Dabo is at Clemson.
And if Dabo were to leave, the first guy to be offered the job would be BV.

Listen to Larry William's interview with him on Podcast. You'll understand why. His time with his sons is very important to him.
