I think that if a vote were taken today

By all the present ACC schools the gamecocks would not be chosen to join the league. They need to stay where the are now. I can’t think of anything positive they could bring to the ACC. They certainly would lower everyone’s SOS!

They would never be invited. They don’t help the tv footprint. AND nobody wants them. They were sec’s 4th choice.

^^^ This. It's all about market. If the ACC were to take another school, it would almost certainly be Connecticut (IMO).
But how big can a conference get??!!

Just what in their past history would indicate that they would win in the ACC ....... the Virginia game?

Being 1 - 3 against the ACC the last 2 years makes it not a good idea for Uof5C to try and join the ACC.

Their one distant and fading light in ACC history means they would be about as successful as they are in the SEC

The ACC has no desire to invite the Gamecocks

...now, or probably ever.
The Gamecocks are lucky to be in a Power 5 conference, to be honest. They're probably never going to be a top-tier SEC program but even that's better than they deserve.
Since they joined the SEC "being in the SEC" has been their major claim-to-fame. Let them enjoy it.

One huge fact that is overlooked when someone makes the argument that they could compete in the ACC now. If they leave the SEC they are not going to get the same players. I would argue that there are probably 10 players on their roster because they wanted to play in the SEC and could not play at Alabama or Georgia. Give them a couple of years recruiting as a non-SEC school, and they are in the same boat they are in now fighting for a winning record.

By "winning a division title" did he actually mean the SoCon

Based on last years ACC Standings, I'd have to put SCU near the other end of a division title in '19.

They should also get a better mascot than a chicken....geez.
Perhaps gerbil, Caterpillar, clam....anything but a chicken.

I'd trade Louisville for South Carolina. Both are misfits in their respective conferences, Louisville having a yearly rivalry with Kentucky and U of SC with Clemson. South Carolina pairs better regionally with the ACC's 4 North Carolina schools and Louisville with the SEC's pair of Tennessee schools.

If USuck left the SEC Clemson would be the first school the SEC would contact to replace them.
