GarageDoorNet

May 18, 2017, 7:52 AM

Leaving for work this morning and the garage door doesn't lower back down. It still works as in the belt moves but its not lowering the door. So is this a youtube video fix or am I staring down a couple of hundos? Nothing like a good ole FU## on the way out the door to work.

a. latch is pulled
b. eye sensors not lining up
c. mouse chewed through wires
d. if you have a decent model it will have a flashing light which will indicate the problem

a. I'll check
b. not sure what this is
c. this is possible as I've killed some in my garage
d. I don't have a decent model and don't speak morse code

If it were the sensors I assume it would just click

and not try to move?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Correct. His latch has been pulled***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It would lower with a pulled latch dough right?

May 18, 2017, 12:19 PM

It just won't raise.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-fordprefect.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Only if lowered manually

May 18, 2017, 12:30 PM

when the latch is pulled it disconnects the door from the belt/drivetrain thing. Will also raise manually.

b. there will (should) be 2 sensors near the bottom of each side of the garage door opening. Sometimes they will get bumped causing the door to work improperly

Well I sold my pool table but my roommate keeps his weed in there.

Hey man, I think your latch has been pulled

May 18, 2017, 8:32 AM

Would explain why the belt moves but the door doesn't. Your roommate probably did it when he was high and was going in there to get more week.

MauldinT, where are you???

This is definitely 99.9% true.

it's the latch, broseph. Simple fix. You only need a

lighter and a 5 gallon bucket of gasoline.

It works on both?

I think the pull has been latched.***

it's the external dryer vent.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd like to make a suggestion, if you'll allow me to.

May 18, 2017, 8:55 AM

Traditional garage doors are not very inviting or welcoming. I would suggest removing them, since they're going to eventually break and cause you great pain and expense when they door. Replace the garage doors with an attractive set of hippie beads, which is a great way to tell your neighbors that you love and trust them, and that you're one with our wonderful planet.

I'd don't think you get the point at all.

You need to check/clean the lint trap

1. Put glass of milk in the freezer

2. Check the latch.
