"Does the SEC need to be worried about strength of schedule"

Sep 2, 2019, 6:28 AM

Heather Dinich is definitely not totally sold on Clemson (picked us as #3 in CFP rankings). She did write this, which was interesting:

"Does the SEC need to be worried about strength of schedule? There's no doubting the playoff power of Alabama and Georgia, and Auburn's win over Oregon was another boost for the SEC West -- and the league needed it. Tennessee certainly didn't help with its loss to 25-point underdog Georgia State. The separation between the SEC heavyweights and the rest of the league was evident on Saturday. Yes, Memphis is good, but Ole Miss should have been able to muster more than 10 points against the Tigers. South Carolina also squandered a lead and lost to North Carolina 24-20 in the return of Tar Heels coach Mack Brown. Wyoming beat Missouri 37-31."

Early last season Dinich made it known on social media that she didn't think Clemson was playoff worthy. That was a great prediction by her, no?

She may be miffed about all the “sammich” comments, yet continues to prove them completely valid.

Andrea Adelson was an upgrade.

Luckily, she doesn't carry much weight with the committee.

The SOS for the top tier SEC teams will have no impact for the champion as that team will be in the playoffs. The SEC will need two undefeated teams making it to the CG to have a chance at getting two teams in the playoffs.

If you think SCar melts down fast, they've got nothing on Missouri!

In all seriousness, she needs not to worry about SEC speed as long as Bama, Auburn, Georgia, and LSU keep winning.
Those are really the only 4 teams, IMO, that anybody needs to watch.
Tennessee sucked in their opener, and so did Missouri. Florida struggled in their opener against Miami, which is in a rebuilding mode.
The Vandy's and Kentucky's will probably do O.K.
But let's really get to the heart of the matter, the only team in the SEC who knows nothing about speed, unless it's on a 10-speed bike cycling downhill with a strong tailwind following.
How does a team get a 20-9 lead late in the third, and go on to lose 24-20?
I got to believe UNC might have picked up on some of that SEC speed she is worried about.
