They do it for a living...

The announcers just keep talking until they see the planes

The planes get there whenever they feel like it.

It's pronounced "L Heff A" and it means "The Boss".

I’d guess time, speed, distance. As long as the National Anthem begins at a precise time, the length of time to play the anthem would be known. The pilots just have to hit a known fix at a known distance from the stadium, then fly the correct speed to cover that distance during the playing of the anthem. A little arithmetic, a little planning, a little precision and it looks like magic.

Nope, this is what they do everyday to protect us!

as stunt pilot myself,

it is not all that hard. The trick is for all of the pilots to go the same speed.

Not sure how they do it now but when I was in the band in the late 70's/early 80's they would alert Sumter at a certain point in the pregame show and they knew precisely how long it takes to get to Death Valley from Sumter AFB. It was awe inspiring to me how they timed it to the second and I still get all emotional when all that power goes thundering overhead at a game. Wow

I’ve heard they pipe in the National Anthem into the pilot’s headsets. The pilot has an approximate time they need to be there and then they listen and adjust accordingly. Pretty easy to make up a couple seconds in a fighter jet.

Btw - anyone have any idea what they’ll have for the Natty? I’ll be there - absolutely love a flyover.

they have pretty good gps and computers

Jan 1, 2019, 6:22 PM

it is not hard for them at all. If they wanted to they could drop a bomb on any seat as well.
