Did DRAD have a presser after his meeting with CBB or

Apr 12, 2019, 10:25 AM

did he let CBB give the state of the program?

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

He probably did!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No. I would imagine he just wants to move on past it

Apr 12, 2019, 10:45 AM

in a "nothing to see here" kind of approach. This was supposed to be the culmination of 8 years of program re-building ending in a nice little NCAA Tournament run with 4 fifth year seniors and the improved Brownell recruiting to compliment that core.

Next year, he'll have even less to say.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST CONCENTRATE ON GETTING CRAZY BERNIE OR CRAZY ANYONE ELECTED AND LEAVE HIRING TO DRAD. LOL

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe you should focus on how to use a computer keyboard.

I dont think it is too much to expect a top 25 ranked team every year.

Re: What are your expectations for next year? Rebuild? NCAA/NIT?***

Apr 12, 2019, 12:02 PM

That's not happening next year. I'm asking specifically what is he expecting for next year, given the current roster and incoming freshman.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That seems perfectly reasonable in year 10.

Apr 12, 2019, 12:05 PM [ in reply to Re: What are your expectations for next year? Rebuild? NCAA/NIT?*** ]

A top 25 team and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Rebuild, unless those 3 true frosh are just amazing right out of the gate. Also, we need to see how that transfer from UNC Asheville plays. It's hard to predict next year without knowing how good those players will be. We don't know what we have. We also have an issue not really having a center. Will we get a grad transfer?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need Rayjon Tucker as a grad transfer

Apr 12, 2019, 1:02 PM

badly. As of now not one proven scorer on the roster

Re: We need Rayjon Tucker as a grad transfer

Apr 12, 2019, 1:08 PM

Are we in the hunt for him? What are our chances?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We recruited him in HS, so there is a prior

Apr 12, 2019, 1:14 PM

relationship. I think we have a chance, but there will be stiff competition for him. He's from Charlotte so proximity could help us

Re: We need Rayjon Tucker as a grad transfer

Apr 12, 2019, 1:54 PM [ in reply to We need Rayjon Tucker as a grad transfer ]

i have seen nothing that says we have any interest in tucker. we have had a visit form 1 grad trans
(6-6 guy who can play 3/4, very good shooter) and we have a visit scheduled from the Chas southern G. believe those are our 2 priorities right now. tucker could be in play, but doesn't seem to be right now. think the best case would be those 2 grads and a big guy of some sort.

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Was the 6-6 guy who visited?

Apr 12, 2019, 2:00 PM

The Akron grad transfer who played well against this season against us or was it someone else?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Was the 6-6 guy who visited?

Apr 12, 2019, 2:02 PM

the akron guy

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need 1 big scorer and 1 perimeter shooter/ball handler

Apr 12, 2019, 1:17 PM [ in reply to Re: What are your expectations for next year? Rebuild? NCAA/NIT?*** ]

from the grad transfer market or we are in a bit of trouble.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tucker is a perimeter scorer

Apr 12, 2019, 1:23 PM

we also need a PG unless we're planning to roll with an unproven freshman, because Trapp is not a starting PG

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Our needs are greater than the number of scholarships

Apr 12, 2019, 1:33 PM

available.

What we saw from the players we have coming back was not encouraging. Disappointing lack of development from our sophomores. Of course, Coach Brownell didn't trust the backups enough to play them even though the starting point guard was injured, so there's that.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Trapp was the only other option at PG

Apr 12, 2019, 1:46 PM

Mitchell at 75% was the better option. To be remotely competitive next year we need 1 of 2 things, or both to happen.

1) Multiple freshmen are impact guys. Brad has never had an impact freshman, so I'm not optimistic there

2) Two impact grad transfers. Brad has never had that either, but I actually do have some hope there.

A combination of one or the other could make next year better than I expect it to be

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Trapp was the only other option at PG

Apr 12, 2019, 1:58 PM

to be fair, BB has only had TWO grad trans before : mark Donnal and javan white. agree that neither were "impact" guys, but both were role players, contributors

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need impact guys this year

Apr 12, 2019, 2:06 PM

as for Tucker, I cant believe we have no interest. He most likely has some big dogs coming after him and may have no interest in us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: We need impact guys this year

Apr 12, 2019, 2:11 PM

i know nothing for sure on tucker. yes, we recruited him out of high school, so there is a prior relationship. but who knows if that relationship was good or bad? just saying that in today's world, there is usually some mention somewhere if there is interest in a kid. i can find reports from credible sources on utomi (sp?) and keeling visiting. just haven't seen the same on tucker. got no problem with being wrong if we do have interest.

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The holes are after Keeling at CSU

Apr 12, 2019, 2:24 PM

he would be as good a get as Tucker. Career average near 18ppg. The guy from Akron, Utomi, is 6'6, 215 and averaged 14 and 6 and shot 37.5% on threes.

Both would start next year
