Dabo to the Falcon's?

Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta Falcons & Home Depot, was in Clemson last weekend for the game and to "meet" with Dabo. I have no knowledge of the purpose of this meeting. However, Dan Quinn, Falcons coach, is essentially a dead man walking as they are 1-7 and giving up 31.5 points /game. That is only better than the Bucs and the Dolphins. Blank's plane is still at the Oconee/Pickens Regional Airport as his pilot ran off of the runway and damaged a wheel/tire. I am sure that Dabo and his representation are contacted about coaching positions a lot more than this board would feel comfortable knowing about. Though I don't see Dabo going anywhere, it is still interesting to know that people are gauging his interest.

I agree with you that Dabo will not take the Falcons job. Its' a big jump from college coach to pro coach. Spurrier and Holtz learned that.

I love Dabo and he is a great leader, but the NFL game would not be a fit. Saban did not even make it long. What makes Dabo great is his ability to recruit and grow young men. There is not much of that in the NFL you get what you can draft off of the board and the teams are kept “equal” in that regard. He is able to out recruit, get better talent, and develop that talent. This is why the Tigers are so good.
Honestly, I think he would feel a void in his life as well if he made the jump.

Its basically worked out twice. Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll and I'm not sure Pete Carroll even counts since he was an NFL HC before he was a college HC.

I was thinking the Falcons' next coach might be Jim Harbaugh.

Probably Blank's wishing to land a guy like our coach ... who quite frankly is one of a kind . Dabo likely has zero interest but rather was being Dabo and entertaining and being gracious to a VIP guest .

What college coach do you think would be a better coach in NFL than Dabo?

Probably someone like Lincoln Riley

It's possible Dabo would be a good NFL coach because I always thought he and Pete Carroll had/have similar coaching styles in college. I thought Pete would be a bust in Seattle but I was completely wrong on that one and I could be wrong about Dabo too.
I just feel like some of Dabos biggest strengths would be wasted at the pro level. On the other hand he could finally hire the special teams coordinator he so desperately needs.

NFL players don't care about being on the ROY bus as long as the check clears.

If Dabo ever jumped to the NFL

I bet Atlanta would be his 32nd choice out of 32. Unless - maybe a 20-year guaranteed deal @ $40-million per year.

Pro coaching is trying to be the boss of a bunch of borderline criminal egomaniacs that mostly make more money than you do. Seems like a nightmare job to me.
