Close encounter of the Tiger kind

After working out at the Y in west Concord NC this evening, stopped in a nearby Pizza place about 8:30 pm to take out a couple of slices. Had a CU golf hat on and after paying for the order, there were three kids about age 12 or so nearby. Noticed they were looking at me and smiling. Just as I was starting to wonder why, a gentleman came up and said they were admiring my hat. He then said the father of one of the boys had played soccer at CU. Turns out the boy's father is Bruce Murray. Told him I definitely recall his Dad winning the soccer version of the Heisman award. The group had stopped to eat after boating on Lake Norman. If I heard correctly, the young man and his mother live in Concord, but not certain of this.

A good 15 years ago when I was deeply involved in club soccer. He had brought a team he was coaching to a tournament our club held. Got to chat on a few occasions that weekend...nice to talk Tigers and soccer with a World Cup participant! ;)
