This was posted a while back for last year I think, maybe back in May or June. Not this same article but the bc ranks etc. it really is worth reading and imo has teeth.
Only thing I would add, less the anomaly in 15 when we should have won is a great QB. Can’t just have the great QB- got to have the talented D.
I sincerely believe that is why so many Tigers really hope that TL takes the reigns this year, because we need a great QB.

One thing I would comment on the so-called "ratio" is that it tends to be self-fulfilling. Players who get offers from the top schools are regarded as the "best" players by the analysts - if Nick Saban or Urban Meyer offer you, you MUST be elite - and of late Clemson has benefited from that "industry standard" bump-up as well.
Not too long ago a lot of folks were complaining because of all the 3-stars Clemson had committed. Well...the "Clemson effect" is showing...because all over the place analysts are bumping Clemson's commitments up substantially in the rankings because, after all, if they got a Clemson offer, they MUST be good....
I'm leery of circular-logic traps like this.

Like you, I am leery of this type of analysis because there is FAR more that goes into this than "star ratings". Coaching, facilities, budget, etc.
With that said, Bud Elliott knows his stuff and if nothing else, makes a compelling argument that there is something to it.

Yeah agree with both your points but I wouldn’t say what he points out is. He tempers it quite a bit by saying there are other factors and as both of you pointed out coaches and development are important. He also states it’ll be interesting going forward to see the anomalies. He definitely says this is not the be all end all and doesn’t take poor performing teams etc.
One thing this does tell me though. We have a tougher schedule than a lot of people on here think that we do. We have several games we’re going to face tough defenses.
