CU Basketball

Feb 16, 2015, 9:16 PM

The state of the basketball program is not due to poor coaching...Brad Brownell is a fine coach. The reason that we are where we are is players--we are trying to win with mostly 2* players and an occasional 3*. Give the football program the same guys and we become NC State under Tom O'Brien or worse! The real problem that concerns me is not Brownell's coaching--it's his recruiting ( or I should say lack thereof ). He will eventually be fired for this ( and should be ). We have somehow got to get better players some way, somehow, or we will always be looking at this same crap every year.

Talent is bred from winning games and doing so for a number of seasons. Both of these go back to coaching. You think Dabo gets 4 and 5* guys to commit without having a winning track record? Nope.

I think Brownell deserves one more year of not making the tournament.

If we're being honest with ourselves, what other sport or team of ours do you look past the coach for this problem? I think people are starting to develop this blind support for Brownell, and while some more prefer his stability over that of Purnell's, it's by no means a standard for excellence.
