recently. I see a trend where local news channels are joining in the school teacher trend, kicking out all the old smart people and hiring a bunch of sexy ditzes.
In all fairness, they're much more appealing with my morning .....coffee. Yeah.

They upgraded in Columbia to a smokin 20-something for the am crowd and a smokin 30-something for the evening bunch.
Morning chick is hotter, but pm babe looks like much more fun.

on WLOS when I was at Clemson in the early '80s. And she's still there. So was Stan Pamfilis on Sports (but with an afro) That's amazing longevity.
But I don't think anyone will top Bill Sharpe and Debbi Chard (WCSC5 in Charleston). They were on that station when I was a little kid, like 1976 or something. I think they are still there too.

Then you had Susan Aude Fisher and Ed Carter on WIS. They were there for decades.
Now everyone's gone from WIS. Rick Henry is the old guy at WIS now. He's been there since 1988. He replaced Joe Dagget. But they rotate talking heads regularly now.
WOW, Joe Daggett looks identical to Alex Trebek now. Like EXACTLY.....

until they keel over. Too plumb a job to do 2 minutes a night, then look busy twice a year when an ice storm comes through. Get to go to all the BBQ contests and when the fair comes to town and act like you're having fun in exchange for free food.

Jim Gandy's retiring this year after 40-something years at WLTX. He is my favorite weatherman of all time. And for one purely selfish reason....
When I was in 3rd grade, there was this fourth grade teacher that EVERYONE hated. Ms. Cuppia (?sp). She used to take kids out in the hall and dress them down like a drill sergeant until they cried. NO ONE wanted to be in her class. Well, as luck would have it, she was slated to be my 4th grade teacher. Then, I think during the spring, I heard the WONDERFUL news that she was leaving teaching and was getting married. I ended up with Ms. Monroe who was still mean enough to be fired and possibly incarcerated today, but was still better than Ms. Cuppia. Learned her new hubby was the new weatherman over at WLTX....yep.
So I know he is a truly nice and good man. Best wishes to him in his retirement. And yes, they're still married.
