As I recall he took over a program in great shape too and it spiraled steadily downhill

Skip Prosser's last 2 years at Wake they went 17-17 (3-13 in the ACC) and lost in the NIT, and 15-16 (5-11 in the ACC) and didn't make any tournament.

So going .500 overall the 2 years before he took over is a program in great shape?? He went 61-31 the 3 years he was the coach.

people literally have no idea what they are talking about. everyone in ws thought dino got a raw deal. two players fighting over the same girl, some partying by a couple other players, etc. most believe it was a ron wellman ego trip firing dino. wellman was a moron who finally is gone. hired his dork a$$ buddy bzdelic who trashed program and then hired a horrible replacement in manning. tigers would be fortunate to land dino

He was given 3 seasons after Skip Prosser died

and went 61-31, made the NCAA Tournament in 2 of the last 3 years and was fired after losing in the 2nd round to Kentucky who had 5 first round NBA draft picks, including Wall and Cousins.
At one point he had Wake ranked #1 in the nation (I think that was his 2nd season?)
In 3 seasons he finished 7th, T2nd and 5th in the ACC.
Using Judge Keller's criteria he averaged a 4.7 place finish in the ACC, which is top of the pack.
Using Snowtown's criteria he made the NCAAT 2 out of 3 years, which is top of the pack.
I'm struggling to see where any of that is bad and after going 4-14 this year I bet Wake fans would sign up for those results again in a heartbeat.

AD. That's why he was hired. He took Wake to the sewer and Colorado improved markedly when he left.
I know one thing about Gaudio, he's a heck of a recruiter. Was the lead guy on Chris Paul and several other Wake studs

Of course he’s 71 now, so maybe the other UVA guy, Jeff Jones (who’s doing pretty good at ODU) might be worth a call.

Chris Mack's staff. I think Chris Mack is one of the better coaches in the country. He speaks very highly of Dino.

Agreed. Wonder if he wants a head job tho. Our AD may not want him but I surely would give him a shot. He seemed very intelligent when I watched him on espn a few years back.

Where does this stuff about Gaudio being a bad coach come from?
Mar 27, 2019, 7:07 PM
|
|
WF got too big for their britches and fired him after losing in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament and haven’t recovered since. If Brad had the 3 year stretch Dino had there’s a few people in here that would be lose it if we fired him.

62? Isn't that too young to be a head coach in a league with Coach K and Roy?

I think Gaudio is a great teacher of the game. He may have learned what to do a little differently with another shot as a HC. He will get another shot somewhere and I think he'd be good for us. Very energetic coach too.
