Another of USC's commitments in doubt By Phil Kornblut
Jordan Smith
DE Jordan Smith of Lithonia, GA has been committed to USC since July but with the Gamecocks' staff in transition, Smith is looking around his coach confirmed Monday. Smith was at Tennessee Saturday when the Vols played the Gamecocks. Lithonia coach Marcus Jelks said Smith might not stick with his pledge.
"I'm not really sure," Jelks said. "He's still kind of looking around. He graduates in December and with the uncertainty about who the guy will be, he's looking around to make sure he makes the right decision.
Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi State have been in contact with Smith according to Jelks. He also talked with USC recruiter Lorenzo Ward a couple of weeks ago. Jelks said Smith has not scheduled an official visit with the Gamecocks at this point.
"Nobody has really reached out," he said adding he thinks Smith will take official visits to Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi State.
In most of the articles of their commits, they site lack of communication as a reason as to why they're looking around. If the coaching staff isn't on the phone with recruits then what exactly are they doing??? I know for sure they're not spending that time game planning or watching film, and if they are... no one can tell.
