Georgia plays LSU in a couple of weeks, that'll take care of one of them.

Breaking that down by conference
Oct 1, 2018, 4:35 PM
|
|
SEC has 4 - Bama, LSU, Kentucky and Georgia ACC has 3 - Clemson, Notre Dame and NCSU Big12 has 2 - Oklahoma and WVU While the B1G and Pac12 only have 1 each (OSU and Colorado)
I think this proves without a shadow of a doubt that the ACC is in fact one of the top 2 conferences in college football.

Alabama plays LSU. One must be knocked out, down to 13.
Clemson plays NCSt. One must be knocked out, down to 12.
Georgia plays LSU. One must be knocked out, down to 11.
Georgia plays Kentucky. One must be knocked out, down to 10.
Cincinnati plays UCF and South FL
and UCF plays South FL. Two must get knocked out, down to 8.
East and West winners of SEC must play, One must get knocked out, down to 7.
7 is the highest number of undefeated teams possible. Chaos will knock out most of those 7 as well. We will be lucky to have 2 teams end the regular season undefeated.

I am not sure if that is exactly right. UGA plays Alabama and one of them does have to lose , but if it is UGA and then they beat LSU then only UGA took the losses, right?

LSU beats Bama, down to 13 Clemson beats NCSU, down to 12 LSU beats UGA, down to 11 Kentucky beats UGA, still at 11 Cincy/USC/SFL knock out 2, down to 9 LSU beats Kentucky, down to 8.

This is an easier way to look at it. But the Power 5 and ND count, the others not so much. So 6 is the important number. Chaos will knock out most of the 6, if history is followed. I suspect 2 is the most we will see.
