TOTE1 did a weight loss program last summer
Jan 16, 2019, 11:33 AM
|
|
Dropped 12 lbs
1st I cut out all sugary drinks (soda, sweet tea, gatorade etc) I had water and hot tea or black coffee
Next I ate fruit with plain oatmeal for breakfast.
Then a month or two later I tried the Plexus pink drink. Thats when the lbs really started to come off.
Did this for about 4-5 mos. Satisfied.

I did one about 3 years ago. Lost 90 lbs.

250 to 159. 91 lbs technically.
And while I agree calories in and out are what makes you lose weight, WHAT you eat will play a huge role in determining how easy it is to keep those calories low. Carbs make you hungry. They burn fast, and you are therefore hungry quicker.
The diet I did was supervised by a doctor. I started for a two week period "fasting". Basically 5 meal replacement shakes a day, and some vitamin supplements. Which was around 600 calories a day. Had to drink 120oz of water a day also. No diet sodas. Lost 10 lbs first week, 6 on week 2. THEN went to a modified plan which was 8-9oz of LEAN protein (fish, grilled chicken, venison. turkey, etc.) and 5 CUPS of veggies a day, and 3 shakes, and vitamins. Did this for several months until I got to around 190. Then the weight loss stopped. So i started walking, then running, then running more. Dropped all the way down to 159lbs. Was running 3-5 miles 3 times a week, with ease.

Just plan meals out
Jan 16, 2019, 11:45 AM
|
|
Protein Shake for breakfast
almonds, craisins, semi-sweet chocolate mix for snack
Protein Shake for lunch
Granny Smith apple
almonds, craisins, semi-sweet chocolate mix for snack
Sensible dinner - tonight is stuffed peppers where the stuffing is ground turkey, black beans, brown rice, zucchini, and onion
Not that hard, especially when you include exercise. My problem is I like salty snacks. I found some rice chips that are decent so I may snack on those too.
Only drink water & black coffee. I really cut back on booze the last few months.
Dropped 20ish lbs but have added a good bit of muscle and my mile time dropped significantly. Running faster than ever, I think, and pretty pain free. Was feeling terrible 6 months ago.

I'm 6' on the dot and I hit 185 the other day, but got back to 187. BMI says I am still overweight, but I run 30ish miles a week, each healthy, and lift weights regularly. I haven't been under 180 in YEARS, like Junior year of high school or something. 36 year old Greenr aint gonna be 17 year old Greenr, I don't think. 179 is my goal though.

175 would be fine, but even lower is better. I'm going to get down to 170 then reassess. The lowest I have been as an adult is 165. That is not sustainable. 170 might even be a stretch.
After my Dad's recent heart attack and stroke, I am taking no chances on the genetic loading. I'm happy for others if they can eat whatever they want, etc., but in my family, we simply cannot.

smoking, terrible eating, lack of exercise, and genetics. I can control 3 of those things. He is on dialysis, blood pressure medecine, walking with a walker when he can get out, diabetic, heart problems, lung problems, two strokes, a PLETHORA of issues. He is a walking billboard for "TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF" so I am trying. Of the three brothers, I am the closest to his body type, so getting REAL skinny is tough for me.

Sorta OT..but I saw a show about mummies and heart disease
Jan 16, 2019, 1:35 PM
|
|
the other day. A group of scientists found out that if they put mummies through an MRI, they could see calcified deposits in their arteries, signaling that they had the beginning of, or even in some cases, end stages of arteriosclerosis.
What they found after putting mummies from different regions of the world were that most of them had heart disease, regardless of their diet. They were really surprised when they looked at mummies from Greenland that had a diet that consisted mostly of fish (that are high in Omega 3 acids), and most of them had heart disease, too.
In other words, if you live long enough, you'll probably get heart disease.

Paleo here on week 15
Jan 16, 2019, 12:25 PM

still lunge fatty I am sure, but down 53 lbs. Saskatoon's in Greenville has this plan - they fix all the food you heat and eat. Best thing vs. trying to do yourself is variety and the right quantities.
Old and exercise is difficult with bad knees, etc. so I don't do a lot - walk more and take stairs when I can.
Water, water and more water. No Salt. No processed foods. No diet drinks (see no salt.)
Goal is another 50 - so maybe by June - but I like the food and I can maintain this.

exercise and do a 16/8 fast. Stay in ketosis and let your body eat itself in the morning. you dont even have to be on a keto diet, just eat sensibly and do 16/8
Sometimes I have a Larabar or GU energy gel if I feel like I really need it in the morning, but that is rare, even after a long run.
