Clemson jumps five spots in AP Poll |
Clemson continued its upward track in the polls after stretching the ACC’s current longest winning streak to four games last week.
The Tigers jumped five spots to No. 11 in the new Associated Press Top 25 and improved three places to No. 12 in the Coaches Poll. That movement improved an already program-high ranking under Brad Brownell set last week (No. 15 in Coaches Poll). Sunday’s NCAA Selection Committee ranking gave the first inkling of how the Tigers’ tournament resume really stacks up, where Brad Brownell’s group checked in as the nation’s top 3-seed and the No. 9 team overall. After that ranking, CBS Sports adjusted its bracket projection from a 2-seed to a 3-seed, where they are slated for the Midwest regional along with top seeds Xavier, Auburn and Oklahoma. ESPN maintained its 3-seed projection in its Monday bracket, sending the Tigers out West. The overall Bracket Matrix also aligned with the committee at a 3-seed. In the KenPom efficiency rankings, Clemson is now in the top-15, at 15th, and their overall NCAA Tournament team sheet metrics average is 12.7. The Tigers (20-4, 9-3 ACC) head to Florida State (17-8, 6-7) on Wednesday (7 p.m., RSN).
