Ray,

If you follow recruiting you know that the names and the numbers are always fluid, but here is my best guesses at this point:

Clemson is done at QB, TE, DT and LB.

I think they take a running back with Lyn J Dixon at the top of the board at this point. Others may emerge but Dixon is the most likely candidate now.

Justyn Ross is the lone wide receiver at this point. Clemson, Auburn, Alabama and FSU seem to be his leaders.

They would like the sign three offensive linemen among Jamaree Salyer (GA,CL), Jackson Carman (OSU,SOCAL,CL), Trey Hill (AUB,GA,AL,FSU,CL), Richard Gouraige (CL,FL), William Barnes (FL,NC,CL), Jordan McFadden (VT Commit), and Cade Mays (TN Commit).

The best bet at defensive end is KJ Henry (CL,VT,GA,AL,SC).

I would say they could sign one more safety. Quandaries Monday (AUB Commit), Leon O’Neal (A&M Commit), Jamie Sherwood (AUB Commit) Derek Allen (ND Commit) Charmarri Conner (VT Commit) being the likely candidates.

One more corner is a good bet as well with Brendon Ridley-Hiles (NEB Commmit), Tyson Campbell (MIA,GA,FSU,LSU,AL,OSU, CL), Jaycee Horn (TN Commit) and maybe Patrick Surtain (LSU, OSU,AL,FSU,MIA,CL).

In summary, I think they will sign one more running back, one wide out, three offensive linemen, a defensive end, a safety and corner. Eight more commitments wouldn’t surprise me.

When the Syracuse fans booed our defensive players when they went down with injuries made my blood boil Friday night. Here is the comment that I left in the survey that Syracuse emailed to me.

"Yes, I am from the south and we do things differently that people in the north. However, it is unacceptable for Syracuse fans to boo when a rivals defensive player is injured on the field of play. The world is not trying to slow down your offense. That behavior shows a lack of compassion for your fellow man and is unacceptable in intercollegiate sports."

I hate to remind you but Clemson fans did it when they thought the opponent was faking injuries to slow down the offense. Remember the LSU bowl game? The hard part is no one knows who is really hurt and who is faking.

A total team loss at Syracuse last Friday. I think one would be hard pressed to find any silver lining for that game, maybe Feaster, Etienne,Renfrow. Let's talk though about Kelly Bryant. It was quite obvious he was not even close to being 100% healthy from his ankle injury the previous game. The running game was removed from Bryant's repertoire and Syracuse knew it. Why was Bryant even allowed to play and second why was he not removed from the game before the concussion? I believe this was one of Dabo's most serious lapses of judgement.

I think he should have started. He hit his first eight passes and was 10-11 at one point. However, he got it nicked up during the game and when it got worse they should have taken him out.

As I said in the Friday email post before the game, Syracuse was not only a dangerous team but a good team. Let's face it, Clemson would not have defeated many teams on the effort and mistakes they made in the dome and several Tiger flaws were exposed. The fear that we all had when Greg Hugel was hurt came true because the field goal kicking was horrible. Any team that has a talented tight end gives Clemson problems. It was easy to see why Ishmael is the top receiver in the country and Eric Dungey was fantastic. Penalties were huge and PI calls against the defense just keep coming. Clemson has lived on defense by its front 7 being better than the O-line of the opponent and that was not the case at Syracuse because time after time the Cuse made the plays.

Granted, Kelly Bryant had to leave the game and it appeared he should never have played. The loss last year against Pitt woke up the team and it did not hurt in the end but somehow, I do not have that feeling about this year. Syracuse simply was better in every way and the year now starts on the 28th against Georgia Tech. There is no margin for error and sadly the Thriller video was not as ridiculous as advertised. This nightmare on Friday the 13th will be hard to get over.

You are exactly right with your assessment of the Syracuse game. Spot on! I am not sure Clemson runs the table. Last year’s team had a bigger margin for error because of experience. This team cant afford to make that many mistakes.

That is a good question but I am not sure of the answer. Both are very marketable at this point and will be even more attractive candidates as they get even more experience. I don’t think either one is in a hurry to jump at a job, but both would be interested in the right job. When and where that happens is the question. I don’t know the answer to your question but neither does either coordinator.

Since Syracuse's receivers were winning the matchups vs our defensive backs and since their quarterback appeared to be the fastest player on the field, should we have played more zone coverage?

That is a great question. Like many offenses, Syracuse’s scheme has answers for either plan. If you press them in man coverage they will go over the top like they did against Clemson. If you ran more zone they would go back to their quick, high percentage screen game. I would say a mix of both is probably the best plan but Dungy is experienced enough to know the reads of man busters and zone busters.
