Mickey,

Recruiting has been a 365 day a year job for many years but now with the early signing period, Clemson celebrated Christmas, New Years and Birthdays all in a 6 week period. The group of players that signed on Early Signing Day were unbelievable and like the best Christmas, then the news that several of our All ACC/All American underclassmen were returning was like a great New Year's Eve blowout, and finally the signing of Justyn Ross and Maro Goodrich yesterday was like a special birthday celebration.

There is no real way to measure until the season, but when the return of underclassmen is factored in, the total recruiting class has got to be the best or certainly among the best in school history. Yes, the underclassmen will only be around one year but wow what a year this year should be. The future is bright and is getting brighter.

Andy

Andy,

I am amazed at this program and the continued climb in talent level. This class has so many difference makers. Clemson wouldn’t trade Lawrence, Ross, Kendrick, Thomas, Henry, Carman, Goodrich, or McMichael for anyone. Those are legit top 100 talents. Combine those newcomers with the guys coming back, and this might be the most talented roster Clemson has had in many years. I would guess Alabama and Clemson will enter the season 1-2 in the pre-season poll. Yes, it was a great six weeks for Clemson recruiting high school prospects and Wilkins, Ferrell, Bryant, and Joseph.

Mickey,

What is this new basketball poll I saw Sunday? I have never seen it. Is this the first year? Is this official? Thanks for the info.

Carolyn

Carolyn,

This is the second year the NCAA basketball tournament committee has released these mid-season rankings. It is official from the committee but, obviously not final. It is similar to what you see in football when the college football playoff committee releases their weekly poll. It was great to see Clemson at number nine. It will be interesting to see how much this poll changes each week. To be honest, since Clemson wasn’t involved last season I didn’t pay a lot of attention to the poll last year.

Mickey,

What in the world has happened to Clemson’s women’s basketball program? When I was in school Jim Davis was winning ACC titles. Now they get beat by 40 every night. How can it get this bad? How did it get this bad?

Tiger Man

Tiger Man,

First, they did Jim Davis wrong. They let the wrong people make a decision, and they made the wrong decision. I think they are still paying for that decision. This is the third coach since and all three have had an extremely difficult time. Quite frankly it is embarrassing. I don’t know the specifics of the issues, but it is obvious that something is terribly wrong. I don’t know the answers but, I do know that it is completely broken.
