Breeland a Tiger from way back

Even as a kid, growing up in Allendale, Bashaud Breeland knew he wanted to be a Clemson Tiger.

Breeland recently spoke with TigerNet, and said that even though he looked at South Carolina and Virginia Tech, Clemson was the place he wanted to be all along.

“I am still committed to Clemson,” Breeland said as National Signing Day approaches. “That is where I wanted to be, regardless. Me and my friends used to dress up in Clemson colors and play. I always wanted to go to Clemson and play for Clemson and I am grateful to have that chance.”

Breeland is a tall and rangy (6-2, 190) safety/athlete out of Allendale-Fairfax High School, and he says that when others compare him to a current player, the most common comparison is Tennessee’s Eric Berry.

Breeland is noted for being a great cover guy, uses his 4.41 second speed in the 40 to close ground quickly.

“I think I play a lot like Eric, because I can play corner and I can play safety,” he said. “I have a combination of both size and speed, and I can play physical. I enjoy the contact and being a physical player.”

Breeland was recruited by coach Chris Rumph, but said he likes all of the Clemson coaches, including head coach Dabo Swinney and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.

“Coach Swinney, he is a cool coach,” Breeland said. “He is a good father figure as well as a good coach. I feel like he will be a good father figure away from home. And Coach Steele is a very good defensive coach. I like the way he lets the defensive backs play man and he lets them play hard.”

Breeland said that no promises on playing time were made to him, and he is just ready to get on campus and get his Clemson career started.

“It is just time to get there and start working hard,” he said. “It seems like forever since I’ve played in a game.”
