The College Football Playoff committee reevaluated the resumes Tuesday after a weekend without upsets among Playoff contenders and dropped Clemson to No. 3 behind Miami.

The Hurricanes (10-0) fell behind by two touchdowns twice at home versus Virginia, but rallied to top the Cavaliers, 44-28.

A week ago, committee chair Kirby Hocutt took a shot at the Hurricanes’ resume when it comes to road ranked wins, but the victory Saturday was a third in a row over a bowl-bound team.

Syracuse falling to 4-7 didn’t help the Tigers (10-1) either, as well as NC State falling out of the new CFP Top 25 with a loss at Wake Forest. Another road win in Virginia Tech rejoined the top-25, however, at No. 25.

Of intrigue toward the bottom of the new CFP ranking was South Carolina, which isn’t ranked in either the AP or Coaches polls, being ranked No. 24. There’s even some conspiracy theories to the Gamecocks’ first top 25 appearance:
