Kiffin discusses if Alabama would have beat Clemson with him calling plays |
Former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin was interviewed by Fox Sports' Clay Travis recently and was asked if him calling the plays for the Crimson Tide would have made a different outcome against Clemson in the National Championship game.
“I don’t know that,” Kiffin said. “There’s no way to know that. (Steve Sarkisian) was put in a very difficult situation. Whatever it was, a week, eight days, or whatever, and now all of a sudden you’re calling the game. … If you tried to figure that out, you’re talking about one play.” Former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian helped his team only score seven points in the final quarter as Clemson dropped an impressive 21 points to win the 2016 National Championship by a score of 35-31. After the loss, Sarkisian left for greener pastures as the new offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
