Shoot us a photo of the fish when you get back in or are you fishing for something other than that ? You are right, Shem Creek is a beautiful place. Wish the original Trawler restaurant was still there.

Kayaked & eaten there many times myself (Reds, Etc) & those Porpoises/Dolphins can be so thick in that spot that one wonders where they all came from.
Enjoy...jealous here a little but at HHIsland putting my Jet boat in.

Years ago I heard the guy that owned the Trawler lost it in a gambling bet. His name was Ronnie Boles I think. This is where the restaurant RB's came from. Can anyone confirm?

Yes RB's was named after Ronnie Boals. At one time back in 80s he pretty much owned all the restaraunts on shem creek. The rumors were that he lost the trawler in a poker game. He now only owns RB's and his son opened Saltwater Cowboys next door.

Forgot about The Lorelei Hopeful. That was a good one too. Those two restaurants were the best around in those days. The just found the recipe for the crab dip at "The Trawler". Bring me a bowl of that and a box of Waverly Wafers and I'm good.

The only down side to shem creek now is all boat traffic. Some days I have to put my boat in way up the wando because so many people and to few boat ramps to accomodate the masses. I have always used shem creek but now if you do not get there early you will waiting forever!

Yep! the Trawler and Lorelei were the days. My favorite girl and I spent a weekend in the Holy City when they were full blast. We had dinner on the creek at the Trawler. It was Labor Day weekend, we were seated next to a table occupied by couple with two kids. The couple were prim and proper but their kids were real hellions. They were screaming, throwing stuff off the table, crawling under the table and creating havoc for everyone around. The parents paid no attention at all. There was one of those candles in a glass container on the table and one of the kids took the candle under the table and set the table cloth on fire. It blazed up by the mother and she screamed and by this time two servers ran over with pitchers of water and doused the whole crowd. You can't make this up. We laughed our #sses off.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Tavern & Table. Man that place is very good!
I know it’s a newer establishment, but it’s always packed with patrons. Stayed at the Inn twice for work this year and ate there.

You can’t see it real well, but the other flag ( not the iconic paw) says Dilly Dilly. What a joker!
