If this BS immunity thing is allowed looked back to all the former presidents who could have pardoned themselves. Nixon has to be near the top of the list. While Nixon had nothing to do with the break in at the watergate hotel his crime was covering it up after he found out about it.

for Crimes he may or may not have committed. But what does it matter, our presidents have been committing crimes in office since forever. Let's give them the piece of mind that we will use the honors system here, if they promise not to do anything bad, like start a war in the wrong country, bomb US citizens, or stage a half assed coup' attempt.
