I have been dealing with a respiratory illness for past 5 days. Have spent most time in bed. Surfed internet today on my cell phone. Saw a couple interesting things concerning ACC and college FB.

I was tested for covid and test was negative.

IT is 2 a.m. and I can't sleep, so I will relate what I saw and read.

Revenue sharing of 1 billion a yr. With college athletes in Power 4 conferences. Each school would share a max. Of 20 million. The amount to be shared by each school up to a max. Of 20 million
would have to be determined by each school. It is assumed that the top 20 -30 FB schools would share the max of 20 million.

This revenue sharing deal is a way for the NCAA to settle several federal NIL lawsuits which have been filed in federal court and which they know they will lose because they have lost everyone so far. If they lose they will have to pay 4.3 billion dollars, so a billion is what they hope to settle for in the revenue sharing plan.

This has been known for at least a year and that is probably why FSU/CLEMSON want out of the ACC. They need that 20 million dollars.

The details of how the money will be paid to athletes will be worked out. And you can bet, the amount will increase each year. It will be capped, but it will be like a NFL salary cap. If you want the best players, you will have to pay what the other top teams are paying in revenue sharing. So, obviously the SEC and the BIG is where you want to be.

The other thing I read today is that the lawsuit the Florida AG filed in Leon County court in Florida against the ACC last week in which she requested the ACC turn over a copy of media rights contract and GOR contract to her regarding FSU.

The case was immediately assigned to a judge and it was docketed on the court calendar. On Friday or Monday, the judge issued a show cause order to the ACC and gave them 20 days to respond. The Florida AG then has 10 days to respond. I may have the number of days wrong. It could be shorter, not longer. It is a pretty quick turnaround. FSU and the AG want this case sped up. The ACC is going to drag it out ad long as possible.

The last thing I saw was that some high dollar UNC donors met and are going to join forces to put pressure on the Board of UNC Governors to let UNC Athletic leadership make decisions that are best for UNC athletics and make sure UNC does not get left behind in conference realignment. Wotd was that these high dollar minors want UNC IN the SEC or BIG and they are afraid that some in the system may be wanting UNC to stay in the ACC. These donors know that is not in the best interest of UNC athletics. They want UNC to be able to fund all of the non revenue sports they currently have. They know FB funds those sports and FB revenue needs to be as much as they can get.

So, look for UNC to start getting involved soon in some manner that let's the ACC, the SEC,BIG, and ESPN know that they want out of the ACC. I have no idea what that actio will be and neither did the guy who said he had inside info from A source he has know for a long time at UNC and he has been working on this story for a week or more.

So, there you have it. The Revenue sharing story is real and has been covered by several reputable media persons. The FSU AG ACC law suit is real info, as I saw a copy of the judges order on a site.

The UNC stuff, probably 75% true because there are two factions fighting over what UNC should do. A very powerful NC Politician wants UNC and the other NC schools to stay in the ACC. I think the UNC AD, Bubba Cunningham favors staying In the ACC, and the Board of Trustees want out of the ACC. SO, Maybe the big donors figure money talks and BS walks.

Hope I get over whatever ILLNESS I have. Probably won't feel like responding to any comments re. this. But I will read them when I feel better.

Thanks Junk Yard! I'm in relatively good health, and relatively well read--but trying to keep up with what is brewing regarding various efforts/discussions to get out of the ACC is hard to keep up with. So, your summary of recent actions & possibilities was well-timed for me! Of course, I''ll probably be behind again in a few days/weeks <img border=">

Hope you're out the hospital & back to normal activities soon!

Uncle Cheat (UNC) makes pretty good money from basketball. Roughly $31 million a year. Football brings just over (plus ten mil) double that. Those two combine for 71% of their income. Any conference would want uncle cheat because of their bball. Their football isn’t as envious.

NC legislature poison pilled UNC so NC State doesn't get left behind.

UNC can't change conferences without notice (and maybe approval?).

This addresses the not united stay or go ACC question for UNC. It is one of many articles over time that gas cited that there are factions within UNC re. Leaving the ACC. I posted a link to a Wral tv interview last week in which the NC Senate leader said all NC schools should stay in the ACC. If you were not a paid ACC shill or just stupid or lazy or would remember what you may have read, you would have seen it.

I will not post the link to the web site talking about the UNC big donors getting involved. I don't want to give clicks to the site. I stated that I thought it may be about 75% accurate. Get off your whining ### and do some research if you are smart enough and really care and you can find it. Good luck.

If that’s all you have to offer, alleged TigerFan, how about keep your opinions to yourself. At least junkyard is giving us information he has read, and it seems to comport with things I’ve heard. You on the other hand offer nothing.

I get tired of A-holes like you with minimal posts and low pulse rates coming on the board offering squat except criticism of tried and true posters.

With B1G and SEC hypothetically allowing a TV revenue football team payroll of $20,000,000 per season, that works out to approx. $400,000 for 25 starters (incl. kicker/punter/nickel), $200,000 for 2nd string, and $100,000 for others as AD/coaches see fit.

The $20M questions are how much will the ACC and BIG12 be able to fund per player with their TV contracts, and how soon will the SEC and B1G raise their revenue distribution per player to widen the gap with other conferences?

I've read a little about the proposed revenue sharing. I haven't followed it that closely.

I think most everyone agrees that we are headed toward a professional model for college football and basketball. We will soon see players signing contracts. We will soon see some sort of collective bargaining. Universities will fight not to have the athletes unionize, but they will lose that fight.

We won't see a model of "minor leagues" like we have in baseball. Clemson will not be assigned an NFL team, much less be owned and run by them. But, it will be clear to everyone that the college football teams will be the minor league for the NFL.

And, I place the blame squarely on the universities and their government (presidents, BOT, etc.) They have consistently devalued academics to the point that "student-athlete" is optional but not required.

Actions have consequences. We are now seeing the consequences of those actions.

I think the problem was always the university presidents treating the problem like we were still in the 1970’s sports media world. They hid behind the student-athlete academic model (via their control over the NCAA) without the actual federal antitrust exemption they needed to maintain the status quo. They rightly lost in court every time. If they really cared about the student side of student-athlete they would have maintained the academic admittance standards (however they attempted and failed at that) and used their considerable political clout to get federal antitrust exemption.
